Heres Why Car Dealerships are Scumbags IMustBe Crazy: I've been having transmission problems with my 2014 Camry. The dealership said my VIN number doesn't fall within the warranty replacement. I called Toyota corporate they gave me a case number and they did 1, 400 worth of work on my car for free. They replace the torque converter. Edit. I have 114k miles. The torque converter warranty has been increased to 150 K miles. For anybody who is past there warranty given by the dealership.

Several of the Honda dealers in Central Texas are advertising free lifetime power warranties for every car. You can't even say no thanks, they automatically come with them. But they are not backed by the dealer or Honda. These warranties are actually an insurance policy by a third party insurance company in Dallas which is also a LLC corporation, meaning they can fold at anytime without ramification to the owners of the LLC. One dealer told me they get an extremely low price on each warranty because they are contractually obligated to include one on each car. My guess its less than 100. On the other hand, an extended Honda factory warranty can cover almost everything on the car for 120, 000 miles and may run an extra 1100. Which can be added anytime before the car reaches the standard 3 year 36, 000 mile warranty. Finally, on Honda's CRVs with the oil dilution problem (1. 5L Turbos, Honda has extended their factory powertrain warranty from 5 years 60k miles to 6 year unlimited miles, whichever comes first.

Scotty you said it yourself. From MY experience. Your experience is with AFTERMARKET warranties. People who have FACTORY extended warranties go to the dealer for repairs. You have never worked for a dealership. So you actually have no experience with FACTORY extended lifetime powertrain warranties. Chrysler offers those, and yes, the customer does have to maintain their vehicle by the book. It is not unreasonable to deny a warranty repair on a vehicle with no history of PROPER maintenance. I have over 20 years of dealing with all types of factory and aftermarket warranties. 20 years ago, most of the aftermarket warranties were a rip off. Many today still are, but the majority are good. And I have never ever had a problem processing a factory extended warranty claim. Ever.

SCOTTY PLEASE HELP I Had a gas leak soaking throught the base connector gasket and i ended up buying a new 3236 dgev carb and did not replace the base plate for the manifold. The new carb worked fine with no vacuum/gas leaks for about a month then it all of a sudden srarted leaking gas through the new gasket in the same place it did before. What can i do to permanently fix this issue? When the gas leaks obviously its idling poorly and basically breaks down until it starts again. I need to correct this asap. Thanks for your help. Any suggestions would be great. Truck is sitting there in my garage waiting on me until i can fix this issue and all i want to do is drive it. 1987 toyota pickup.

Pennzoil is what I started using. I seen a pickup truck that sat for 20+ years start up. It was an old International pickup truck. They changed the battery, gasoline and some other parts. Didn't take them longer than 20 minutes. After a couple tries, started right up. They broke down the engine because there were obvious leaks around everywhere. The oil looked golden as if it had been changed. It was the damnedest thing. When I started driving cars, nothing but pennzoil. Won't use anything else.

I got a lifetime power train warranty with my ram that i purchased new 11 years ago. It was free with the truck and ive used it a couple times, exhaust manifold bolts, rear pinion seal (twice) and water pump were all covered. So im glad i got it. I wouldnt have paid for a warranty myself but it came with the truck so ill take it. I was surprised at how much it covered and they havent fought me on any of the repairs. yet.

In my early 20's, my wife & I bought a new Mazda GLC wagon. We got the extended warranty. Worthless. In the first six months, a freeze plug came out, and fried the head. No coverage. Found out later, those early Mazda motors were terrible, dropped rods, lost freeze plugs. Shoulda bought a Toyota Corolla wagon instead.

Hey Scotty, My girl friend owns a 2003 silver Crown Vic with 100 thousand miles. Her mom gave her the car. She has had nothing but problems out of it and has spent over 3, 500. 00 dollars on it this year alone. I own a 2001 BMW X5 4. 4i with over 200 thousand trouble free miles on it. Explain that one. lol

How about when car dealerships warn you, you purchased a car: 'AS IS' then plop numerous people down to upsell you on clay bar detailing, XM, On Star, & extended warranty packages to 'protect' your investment. Hell, we all just want a fair deal on a affordable vehicle. we're not sending it to college.
