Do Not Buy This New Engine Design Mark Dumagpi: I would look for a vehicle with the GM (General Motors) 3800 (3. 8 L) V6 engine design, but most of the older GM vehicles are too old now and the newer GM vehicles have a lot of problems. I would go for a 2014 Dodge Avenger SXT sedan with the 2. 4 L four-cylinder engine with 173 horsepower and the six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift mode, because the four-speed automatic transmission on these Avenger's is too old and it is junk. It is a little smaller than the 2010 Chrysler 300 Limited sedan with the 3. 5 L V6 engine with 250 horsepower and the four-speed automatic transmission.

Stay away from turbocharged and supercharged engines altogether. They have half the lifespan of a normally aspirated engine. Also stay away from CVT transmissions, they have less than half the lifespan of a normal automatic transmission, but, the simple (wouldn't that be nice) truth is, the more speeds any automatic transmission has, the less reliable it is going to be. More complexity, and the parts and gears have to be made smaller and weaker to get everything inside the same size or smaller case. The 4 speed automatic overdrive in my 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis is a 300, 000 mile transmission if properly maintained, and you can replace one for 2000.

I remember the ford explorer was cool when it first debuted. They had good parts for the most part. Dana 35 front, 4Liter v6, 8. 8 traclock rear, etc. I know they had issues with the brakes, but not much else to complain about. Motor trend truck of the year? Anyways, by the second generation explorer, they earned the name Exploder because the firestone tires they were paired up with from the factory would explode in the back, causing all kinds of damage to the rear wells, rear quarters, fuel filler lines were ripped out, and all kinds of fun stuff. You probably remember that crap. Anyways. Keep up the entertaining content Scotty

Scotty Kilmer Scotty I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota 3. 7 V6 auto 4x4. back in February, the heater core was replaced new and at the same time the whole heater box was replaced with a used unit. bill for the repair was 1300 Cdn. That hurt. What hurts is now that the cold weather is here, I'm getting a coolant smell out of the vents. Could the new core be leaking already? There is no coolant leaking from the box onto the interior floor, nor is there any coolant leaking under the truck. I also haven't found any coolant leaks under the hood so what do you think? Besides selling the endless money pit, that is. ;-)

Hey I have the same key no detected don't listen what mechanic or technician said because they say they have to program the fog but is not true the only thing you have to do is get in the car en place the fog on top the start button en hold for couple minutes and push the button with the fog and change the battery too or they gonna charge you a lot of money to program the fog but they are not going to do that they just place the fog close to the ignition button do that

I had a 1 L three cylinder 1988 Chevy sprint which was a Suzuki 293, 000 miles going strong high revving it and dogging it all the time no problems until it was hit and totaled out. Later I got a Geo Metro not as good as the Chevy sprint both my brothers got Geo Metros both went over 300, 000 miles same engine same transmission but we are a family of fourth generation mechanics changing fluids often and the correct ones make a big difference

Can't agree with Scotty on the 3 cylinder engine being no good, we've owned a Mitsubishi Mirage for near 7 years, it gives astounding gas milage, (up to 60 mpg, 4. 5 l/100 klm, and does the 670klm round trip from our home to our holiday home at legal speed limits (110 KL/hr, no problem. We don't waste money on big fuel bills, it gets us where we need to go safely.

Anything can last a long time as long as its taken care of doesnt matter what the manufacture is. Just like any manufacture can make a Lemon. The stalling problems could also be ignition, I was at an auction a while back, there was an old Ford Econoline Van carbureted with mechanical fuel pump, it would stalled out after 10 minutes of driving plenty of fuel no spark.

I wanna know what Scotty thinks of new Mazda Skyactive-X engine that will hit Japanese market soon. gas piston engine without spark plugs. a lot like diesel but they might theoretically reach close to the efficiency of commercial fossil fuel electric power plants: meaning the efficiency high enough that all those electric vehicles meaningless.

My Citroen 1967 2CV had no problem getting out of its own way. it was getting out of the way of those much faster other cars with impatient drivers that was an issue. After all, those were from an earlier simpler time, when 18 horsepower was adequate to reach a top speed of 59 mph. (With no headwind)
