GM Has Gone Too Far This Time Retro PC User: I repaired the rear windshield motor assembly on my mom's 2007 Chevy Uplander LT by cleaning the contacts on the motor shaft and the contact points on the harness assembly (plastic assembly) and sprayed white lithium grease on the spindle, gears, and shafts. Works a lot better than it did before, and the next motor to repair is the driver's side front window on my 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue as it stops 1/2 way up and sometimes squeaks when rolling up or down for a short period of time, plus, the passenger side rear creaks when it's rolling down or up when the window is close to the bottom.

Scotty, on the guy with the Honda that wouldnt charge, that sounds to me like the battery could be bad. If he put a new alternator on it, and it runs, and the battery light is still flashing, I would have the battery tested before getting another alternator. I had the alternator go out on my car, and the vehicle kept running until the battery was totally drained, ruining the battery. So, not only did I have to replace the alternator, but the battery also. It very well could be that it is one of the connectors, or a bad alternator out of the box, but I think the battery should be tested also.

You are so right about alternators, bought two for my Chevy hot rod from Advanced Auto did not work more than a few hours each. Bought a NAPA one and working fine. Advanced Auto would only refund money on one, their policy is only to replace bad parts not refund money. manager told me my car was wired faulty making his product go bad. Took the second new one from Advanced back to NAPA and got half of my money back form their core charge. I no longer buy parts from Advanced.

The Dodge van trans thing. We had one and no one could fix it the dealer ended up changing the hole electric box that holds all the relays and fuses under the hood. Apparently the bottom of the hole box corroded. The good news is they did it for free under warranty but that was a good few years ago now. My brother has one that kills the battery if he doesn't pull the ground wire every night. I think the same thing.

So, 40+ years ago cars were mechanically easier to fix. But NOW because of computer technology, you need to be a rocket Scientist to figure out transmissions, ignitions, and sensors. we have 1, 000, 000's of TIMES MORE pollution in the landfill material waste generated with all the junk developed by these automakersSo, how is this making for a cleaner Planet? I'm not seeing it.

GM died in 2008, gm's after that are government motors, no longer General Motors. I still run my '72 trucks proudly but wouldn't have anything after '89, I'm through with computers, I prefer something you can diagnose, seat of the pants, while you drive. My 72 C20- I put oil and gas in it on a regular basis and replace parts every 10 years or so.

This is hilarious Oh the irony. Poor, poor, GM. Grasping at straws. A feeble attempt to hurt their competition. But, that's corporations for you. But, in its infinite wisdom, GM fails to realize both Fiat/Chrysler and GM are both hemorrhaging money, and are both on the same sinking boat.

You forgot to mention one other possible issue with the 3. 6 Malibu - could just need the throttle body cleaned out. Those early 3. 6 High Feature/Alloytec (as Holden called them) V6s are known for it. Might be something else for them to try which would be relatively inexpensive.

GM is way off base. Just make a reliable vehicle and you'll be on top. Of course, none of the big three has been able to make a realiabe vehicles in decades. It takes money to make money you cheapskates. Stop being so cheap. It's like they don't even understand their own shortcomings
