#2 I\'m Calling Out This Auto Repair Shop (Scam Alert) Frank: Your advice is awesome, I spent many years repairing cars then went to RV repair. Louisiana, and I am sure others have a safety inspection and emission test I also worked on cars in taxatuchetts, 50k miles rust through body panels, oops you need body work and most times the cars is not worth the repairs. If my friend in Houston needs help I am sending her to you, a college student on a very limited budget. Thanks for what you do very helpful.

Firestone is the biggest ripoff company out there next to NBT I brought my car to Firestone once for an inspection and they said I needed 1200 worth of work done to the car to have it pass inspection. I paid for the fail and brought it to the mechanic I use to this very day. he put the car on the lift and checked everything they said it needed to pass. he said they were right on one thing and one thing only. you need a rear brake light bulb replacement. and that's it. I thanked him for his honesty and paid for the bulb and he passed my car. They said I needed a full brake job and inner and outer tie rods. a bearing and struts and two of my tires were not passable for inspection. The mechanic took the time to show me how wrong they were on each thing by bringing me to my car and actually pointing out each thing and how it was absolutely fine. It pays to get an honest mechanic and to educate yourself on the vehicle you're driving.

Most of These shops are relying on the mechanics to make the recommendations and some one that knows nothing about cars to sell the service. A good sales associate goes to verify the work needed before trying to sell the service. If the sales associate knows nothing about cars they are relying on a mechanic whos trying to boost theyre pay check. and for those people that say the work isnt performed, in most states that would be considered theft by deception. And if you zoom in on the invoice they were only charged 9. 99 for the inspection

Same in uk, i'm a mechanic with 35 years experience, a big tyre, brake and exhaust outlet were offering free puncture repairs, so i took advantage of the offer. guy puts the car on the lift, takes the rear wheel off, first thing he says. you need new rear pads, they're low. i asked if he was sure, said yeah mate they're low and need doing. i said that's odd as i replaced them 2 weeks ago he then looked again, and said. oh yeah they're fine, sorry then fixed the puncture. wonder how many people got suckered with that trick?

It's funny cause I get my car inspected at a Firestone, and they constantly recommend a bunch of work. then tell me what places to go to so I can get that work done cheaper. Instead of replacing my ebcm they recommended a junkyard so I can get a used one. Had a potential exhaust issue, they pointed me to a cheaper place to get my exhausted tested and fixed. I wanted my fuel injectors checked, they told me their price and then told me of another place to get it done cheaper. They are so good to me.

The place I'd go to was the dirtiest dump in the worst part of town. It was great. They were honest and quick. The only did brakes and mufflers in addition to inspections. I had them repair my mufflers when they had a hole but I would do my own brakes. They were zero pressure. Now Utah doesn't do safety inspections anymore and I've never seen so many people driving around with one headlight out. I wonder what else is broken on their car. Too bad the crooks ruined it for everyone.

I used to work for this company for 5 years. I never went to school for automotive but luckily I was sent to training through firestone with not wasting a single dime. I was always honest when it came to my inspections but cant control what the service writers reccomend. Ended up quitting because of no work and my low wage. Left the industry for a manufacturing job and I dont regret it

Oh shoot, I've been meaning to ask Scotty a question Should we present questions in his livestreams? What do you think about changing your oil TOO much? I read somewhere that that's bad, because the wear particles from your engine float around in the oil, and somehow keep it from wearing faster? And if it always has new oil, it can't build up protection? Sounds like hokum to me.

Here in Dallas I took my motor home to a local shop for inspection and it passed, which wasnt a surprise. What was a surprise was that it passed without them hooking it up to anything, without the engine on or checking the signals, horn, brake lights, etc. I didnt ask any questions. and I got my windshield sticker that day at the county office.

I'm glad the lady that owns that SUV was wise enough to know they were trying to rip her off and took her car to Scotty instead. From all the Scotty videos I've watched, I gather that he's not a fan of Hyundai or BMW, but he'd recommend a Hyundai over a BMW any day. Sure says a lot about BMW reliability
