we took our Toyota back to the dealer where we bought it for a 1st annual check up. We had to leave it. When we returned. They gave us a bill. They had changed the water pump, fan and alternator belts, radiator hoses. I was furious. i asked for the parts. They made excuses. Finally they goty the parts and I inspected them. Belts were supple with no cracks, hoses were perfect, water pump spun smooth with no noise. I have been working on cars since a young kid. I know parts and engines and such. I asked WHY DID YOU CHANGE THESE PARTS? The guy got red faced and left. The manager said we'll take off the price of the belts, thereby admitting wrong doing ALL THE PARTS WERE STILL ALMOST NEW I was furious. My wife had to hold me back from jumping on him. We paid the bill. I then went into the show room and stated WE JUST GOT RIPPED OFF, HERE ARE THE PARTS THEY CHANGED FOR NO GOOD REASON DON'T BUY A CAR FROM THESE THIEVES People left like rats leaving a sinking ship I felt a little better. We contacted Calif. Toyota and they did nothing

She didn't get scammed. she failed to read what was being presented to her. At a place where you NEED to verify everything no less. How do I know this at 28 years old and she doesn't know this at like 68? That's just being gullible and it clearly costed her. Anything that's said to me, I make the dealership show me where it reflects that on the contract and if it doesn't already, write it in. It MUST be in writing. If it's not in writing, it wasn't said. Thats the rule you must follow. She can try to sue but it won't get far. she signed. They have something in writing and she doesn't. They have a signed truth in lending disclosure. which outlines everything. Starting price, interest rate, total finance cost and total overall cost and even her monthly payment. That disclosure form was her chance to question the price. She should have noticed what the payments were going to be and for what term. She will get laughed out of court.

I REALLY feel bad for this poor lady. There is plenty of money to made honestly. Really disappoints me in that Toyota dealer and I emailed them. I just bought a 2020 1794 Tundra with a TRD off road package for 40k after trading a 2004 Dodge Ram SLT with electrical and rear diff issues (a shock to you I'm sure, lol) with 100k on it a couple of months ago. They did try to lie and cheat and test my boundaries to see if I knew what I was doing or not and I have no doubt they would have taken advantage of me if they could have. I HATE dealerships and car shopping because of this, which is why I keep my vehicles as least 15 years. They take advantage of women in particular. Swine as you so often say, Scotty.

So THAT is where the sales guy I bought my first new car from went. he's in Texas I hate that. haha. Had a similar scam done on me back in 1988 in Massachusetts. Luckily for me, it was only a few thousand extra and wasn't hard to pay off and clear up, but because they had my signature on those documents, it was binding. But you can be sure I never let that happen again. Good to see a more reasonable settlement came up for her, cause it's not right. Great idea to record everything for audio (and video if you can secretly) cause here in Texas, it's a One party consent state. Look forward to checking out your new car app

The dealership in question (Toyota of Alvin) had 1. 6/5 stars on DealerRater from about 200 reviews at the time I watched this video (2/21/2020, and the newest review was written about a month before this video was released. I read some of the reviews, and I highly recommend you read them yourself, but a lot of other people reported similar experiences to the woman featured in the video. She's not the first person to get scammed at this dealership, and unfortunately she probably won't be the last. TL; DR: STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP

Unpopular opinion. Has anyone asked how it's possible that a 31, 000 truck minus 11, 000 on trade in equal to over 60, 000 dollars. Seems like the whole story isn't being told and the lady probably had tons of negative equity on her trade in and horrible credit (higher interest rate. Besides that, what bank would loan 60, 000 dollars on a Toyota Tacoma? Honestly seems like this more the customer's fault for not doing proper research and math. If that's not the case, Toyota of Alvin should be ashamed but that makes no sense whatsoever.

I told the Nissan dealership that I wanted to finance the deal on a used BMW. This was so they would give me a good price upfront. My salesman, Jeb thought they would make it up when I took the loan through them. On the day of purchase I went in and before they could walk me over to their loan dept, I said I changed my mind and decided to get a Quicken loan instead and handed them a bank check for the agreed amount. The angered look and tone in his voice was priceless. Score 1 for the little guy.

Two lessons here. First, ALWAYS READ THE AGREEMENT before you sign anything. Second, CASH IS KING I have always paid cash for every car I have bought except my first car I bought when I was 17. Had enough money saved to pay cash, but my dad said I should finance it to build my credit. Ended up just paying it off after a year and a half of payments. Credit scores are over rated and when you pay cash for everything except a house, not really that important.

Toyota of Alvin it appears is using shady business practices. In the age of the Internet it will come to bit you in the behind. Basically stealing people's money. I had a Lexus dealer try to charge me for a water pump that was under warranty and only when I told them that it's covered they zeroed out the charge even though they knew it was covered. This is why I buy used and get good inspection
