Subaru vs Honda, Which is Worse
video description
may be the only thing it cant beat in a straight line that has rear doors. The STi competes with the Type R (no AWD, Golf R, and the Focus RS (now discontinued) which come at around the same price. It seems they have fixed issues on their engines now. Also, the XT variants of their cars and their biggest SUV, the Ascent has a higher torque transmission with a new turbo flat 4 cylinder, the FA24, which replaces the old flat 6 but maintains the same performance but gains efficiency. Are there lots of failures on 2. 5 turbo flat fours since 2018 found in the STi?

I have owned a 1990 Toyota Camry, a 2006 Honda Accord, and a 2018 WRX (bought it new. All manuals. The Camry was the best car out of the bunch in terms of reliability, 250, 000 miles and sold it to a guy who put another 50, 000 before junking it. But the Honda Accord was more fun to drive. TBH the Accord had the manual transmission croak at around 140, 000 miles for me, and I wasn't abusing it either (maybe the previous owner did though. The Subaru WRX is friggin amazing though, blows those other two cars away in terms of fun. Never buy a Subaru with an automatic transmission, many horror stories out there about the CVT and how garbage it is. I wanted a Honda Civic Type R but I couldn't find a dealer who was willing to sell it for MSRP, not even close. I wasn't gonna pay 40k for that car. The 2018 WRX has it's flaws but I fixed one flaw real easy (bad tune) with a Cobb tuner. Supposedly the 2020 WRX are tuned much better (I have not test drove one, good news for those who are leasing or afraid of voiding warranty. If you live up north Subaru is gonna be the best option due to all their cars other than the BRZ being AWD standard. BRZ gets overlooked a lot, imo it is almost as good as a Mazda Miata. Anyways if you are looking for pure reliability buy an old Toyota like Scotty says!

Our new 2019 Forester early model broke down spewing white smoke out the tail pipe shutting down the highway. Turns out Subaru put an Aluminum PCV in the car instead of the former steel one and it failed with oil entering the combustion chamber and the car burning it excessively before it stalled. They replaced the broken PCV with a metal one but who knows what was left inside the engine hopefully nothing. What a headache weeks and months with Subaru finally agreeing to my demands to replace the entire exhaust system as I told them the Cat and o2 sensors were ruined with oil flowing through it out the tail pipe and white smoke slightly burning off for days afterward. After exhaust system and Cat replacement everything has been fine since. Will never buy another too bad becuase the cars interior is great and functional with amazing visibility. When done with this we'll be PHEV or electric and get the NEW RAV4 PHEV which is awesome and a Full electric car to complement it. ICE engines are soon obsolete anyway and the world is sick of oil changes and emissions failures during inspections anyway. EV's torque is amazing done deal.

I like your analysis but you gotta know why people buy cars.
My first car Suzuki esteem, reliable but not strong, second car Camry, 3rd car Camry, reliable safe but not good and not safe for snow and ice, 5th car Subaru sus and outback for my wife, excellent for speeding and safe for all kind of weather, like their suspension more than any other car I owned, both died at 240, 000 miles and 250, 000 mile respectively, only had gasket issue once and can't complain a thing, can't compare with camly, my cars now Volvo xc90 and Volvo s60 2. 5 turbo and 4wd both, they are the best of all cars I had, can't go back to Camry, had accident once due to skidding on raining day, their front suspension not good for bad weather, the only downside.
Can't go back to them for my safety during bad weather, they are reliable but not the best.

the
Fuji heavy industries is the parent company.
This is not unusual in Japan, Yamaha makes everything from motorcycles to pianos and does both very well.
I would place Subaru in the top tier of automakers in the world. All automakers have made mistakes, even your precious Toyota.
By the way, I'm your age pal, and I have owned multiples of all three, and now own four Subarus. And again, Subaru has the highest owner loyalty in the industry to the point that owners are sometimes referred to as a cult, and this is because they are bad cars, right? Please explain to me how that works, I'm listening.
You rated Subaru what 4th, 5th best car for sale in America a few months back? What happened?
Seems like your just mailing it in these days, if you want my opinion.

Subaru s aren t that bad. just replace the head gasket and buy a stick. I have had a forester that went 300, 000 miles before it finely was totaled. only replaced gasket once. and only other issue I had was a cracked radiator and that can happen to any car. yeah Honda is defiantly more reliable than Subaru but don t let that be the end all be all. Subaru is pretty reliable in the grand scheme of cars. and the awd that Subaru has is superior to most if not all awd train systems. If you live in a snowy area and want the best awd you can get don t let the better reliablity of a Honda steer you away from a Subaru. because as long as you replace the head gasket at some point and take good care of it you shouldn t have much issues with it at all.

Scotty I disagree with you my 03 Outback has 256k on the 4 speed auto. Still shifts like butter. As for the engine it s holding up well. I had to to head gaskets at 120k but I upgraded to stronger gasket and head studs and it did the trick well. I ve seen so many Subarus well past 200k with original engine and transmission. Didn t they fixed head gasket issues in 2012. For anyone who had issues with them I m sorry to tell you but you didn t take care of it. No excuses. I feel like the worst thing Subaru did was cvt other than that they are great cars.

Don t compare SUBARU to HONDA. Subarus are some of the best cars ever. I have owned only Subarus for years and driven many other cars. Out of all the cars I ve driven all i know is i always need to own at least one Subaru. 04 wrx hands down Best most desirable car own to drive. Honda hasn t had cool cars since the old Integras, em1 civics and 2ks. Subaru is definitely in a higher league than Honda they do not go together sorry Honda. Street legal Rally car vs fwd copy cat budget car. Where s the Mitsubishi with the next EVO? thats Subarus real competitor.

Folks, please listen to Scotty. He's telling you how to play the odds. Bet on Toyota over every other company. If you don't like Toyota/Lexus then bet on Honda. If you need a good truck and don't want Toyota, or you have certain needs, bet on certain Ford trucks. If I had to gamble on Honda or Subaru, I'd take Honda every time, oil dilution problems and all. Honda is a better engine maker than Subaru and historically has had better cars. Avoid the turbo Hondas if you can tolerate the lower trim level but I'd still put my money on Honda over Subaru.

Haha Scotty. I have to laugh every time I see one of your videos hatin on Subarus. I have a 99 Forester and an 02 WRX wagon and they are by far the best cars I ve ever owned. Subaru has won 3 World Rally Championships and countless other rally events over the years. They adopted the boxer engine from Porsche and they too have won countless races using that old school boxer technology. So give it up Scotty. I do enjoy all your videos though and at least your Subie comments are good for a laugh to us owners who really know better.
