The Best Cheap SUV Ever Made (Buy It Now Before It s Too Late) Catfish: Had a 2010 AWD V6 RAV4, one of the fastest cars on the road; But traded it for a AWD V6 Ford Edge, which we liked better. Just couldn't put up with the Rav4 Run Flat Tires. Prior to trade in, we got rid of the run flat tires but since it was the sport model, we had to put a spare tire in the rear hatch, wasting storage space. There was no outside Doughnut for spare tire storage on the sport model. We also decided to trade in the Ford edge near factory warranty expiration because of the infernal internal water water pump issue. Now owners of a V6 AWD Highlander, but miss the Edge, it seemed perfect size for just the two of us. We also needed a towing capacity of 3. 500 lbs. for a pop up trailer. Maybe third time will be a charm?

Scotty, you forgot to mention 2 Legendary Toyota scandals involving older Rav4's. The 2006-2009, 4 cyl models got the INFAMOUS oil-burning 2AZ-FE engine. Big recall and class action on that one. 2nd is the Rav4's mystery SPONGY, SOFT brakes. The soft brakes have thus far been unsolvable by owners and mechanics alike, universally causing mechanics to say I dunno what's causing the spongy brakes. oh well, it stops. Some have suggested a faulty ABS module that doesn't throw an error. Otherwise you're generally correct about Ravs.

I had a 2005 Rav-4. Unfortunately ts was a diesel 2. 0 D-4D. Don't EVER buy one of those. The gasoline engines are good but the diesels are money pits. I had constant problems with it and the repair costs were astronomical. I finally just cut my ties with it and sold it. I bought a 2007 Ford Mondeo afterwards. I was probably happier the day I sold that car than when I bought it. It practically started falling apart on me from day 1. To be fair, these were used cars with like 150k miles.

Wow, what a warranty for a rebuilt transmission. Heck, I used to do maintenance work at the Y. M. C. A. here in Asheboro North Carolina. I got about a late 80's Doge full size van transmission from a junk yard a local tire place changed it for Me. You couldn't even drive it 5 miles until it started leaking fluid. I think they rebuilt it 4 or 5 times, same problem. I don't know if they ever got it fixed. I quit the job before then. To many headaches.

Scotty, YOUR THE MAN! My 20yo Jeep started but all the electronics and gauges went goofy and I was afraid to drive it. Then I remembered you said to check the battery (one year old.
I took it to the auto store and when they tested it the numbers looked good but the tester said bad battery. A free replacement and I was golden.
Did I say YOUR THE MAN?

I like the Land Cruiser but even with over 100, 000 miles they still cost a King's ransom. I have a neighbor with a Ford Expedition that has the 5. 4. It's got over 250, 000 miles on it and it still runs like new. Maybe they aren't as good as the Land Cruiser but they can still be good and cost a lot less money.

My 1998 Rav4 fwd 4sp automatic with 186, 000 mi still runs great. It still has the original engine and transmission. The only major part that needed replacing was the master cylinder. I'm still impressed, as the previous owner didn't take care of the car and turned it into a beater.

I have a 2007 Toyota RAV4 4x4 Sports, the vehicle Drive good it runs great everything last a lot longer on that car but it had one common problem and it was an oil burning problem so Toyota did a recall and fix that problem I still have that RAV4 to this day over 300, 000 MI

You're not throwing your money away on AWD if you live in Texas or other warmer locations. It rains and AWD is a massive safety advantage no matter what Scotty says. I had a front wheel drive neon, I have a wrx 2019 and its about a trillion times better in the wet.
