Prius Plug-in model is different. It gets a more sophisticated lithium-ion battery that can be charged from the mains, here in the UK we have 240 volt sockets. The unit that's twice as large in this second generation model, its capacity having increased from 4. 4 to 8. 8kWh. The downside of that is a 50% increase in battery weight, but thankfully, the bulk has been mounted very low down in the vehicle, which helps keep an admirably low centre of gravity. All-electric driving range is rated at around 30 miles, though you won't get anything like that if you start to really use the increased EV power of this MK2 model. This has risen by 83% thanks to a new Dual Motor Drive System that boosts EV driving power to 68kW, giving better acceleration and more engaging performance.

How can a battery that small cost nearly 11, 000 to replace? The one in the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is even more expensive, but it is a lot larger.
If you don't mind not getting anywhere particularly quickly, and you could get your hands on one, the Audi A2 3L from the early 2000s had a 1. 2l TDI engine with stop-start, low drag, and aluminium was heavily used in its construction. The 3L is a clue to its efficiency - 3 litres per 100km, or 94mpg imperial/78mpg US - but there are reports of people beating this quite handily. For driving around urban areas, I don't think only having 60hp and a 0-60 time just shy of 15 seconds would put too many people off, though being a diesel might.

But you still gotta worry about oil changes spark plugs etc with this Prius prime. And the back end is ugly as hell. That hump in the back cargo area doesn t look right either lol. And why does this car look longer than a regular Prius? I m trying to decide on either the Chevy bolt or a regular Prius. I counted this Prius prime out because of looks and size. So far I m leaning towards a Chevy bolt. Perfect size and power. I just have feeling if I get a Prius I m gonna say I should have gone all electric. Especially when I see bolts or model 3 on the road. It also charges the all EV battery from the hybrid system

Scotty, we bought a 2018 Nissan Leaf as we wanted an all-electric car and the only other option was the Chevy Bolt. While I am not a giant fan of the majority of Nissans products, this car has been exceptional from a driving experience standpoint and, after approx 50, 000kms, it has proven to be a solid operating vehicle (so far) and has saved us approx 450/month in fuel since buying it. Would love to know your opinions on this vehicle, if you have any experience with it (might be good for a segment.

Peugeot had a 78mpg car about 35 years ago that was gasoline. My little 3 meter wheelbase Sprinter van goes 850 miles between Diesel station fillups. When driving from Chicago to Seattle and back I would fillup once a day and every other day twice. The five cylinder model has its benefits. I'll probably drive the Sprinter for 400-500K miles before I quit; then, have my wife do the driving. On second thought I take that back; I'll do the driving and she can use the Civic 1. 7L.

Rented this car for my family's road trip from Los Angeles, Death Valley NP, and Las Vegas. I averaged 56 mpg, even without plugging in. HOWEVER, the trunk is A LOT smaller than the regular Prius. Moreover, my dad and sister who were sitting on the rear seats throughout the whole trip did not like it. The rear seats were too upright for them. And no, it definitely did NOT handle well. The car felt really heavy, which is understandable, given its much larger battery size.

Ever see a workshop area where mechanics work on electric cars? Try working in the battery area. Let's see, you're a mechanic. I see why you can't work on an all electric car. Looks like your kind is obsolete. Don't take my word for it. Do your research folks. The Internet is your world. Electric cars are dangerous to a mechanic. Plus, the transmission of electricity over lines is an energy guzzler. Eaglegards.

After driving my 69' Beetle and 69' F250 as my daily for the last 15 years, I just bought a 2012 Prius C Four. Had it for less than a month and I'm getting almost 60mpg. Heated seats, moon roof touch screen stereo with Bluetooth and it has this awesome thing from the future. I think the kids call it an air conditioner. 400 miles later, I just filled it up yesterday. So far, it's super cool. Thanks Scotty!
