The Truth About Why I Work Everyday Bobby Brady: You dont need to continue doing the same job as oppose to retiring. You can retire and simply do things to keep your mind and body for yourself. My retired teacher mom made it to 91 with a sharp mind all the way to the end. She watched a lot of TV but she also worked on different types of puzzles literally every day and continued making making her own clothes. Im retired now at 52 and I have to say at first it was glorious, but now my health is considerably worse. I feel at my best when working with my hands. Ironically I retired early for health reasons but retirement has made my health even worse. I hope to be able to feel good enough to be able to start working again, even if just part time. An important thing Scotty didnt mention is that retirement usually means a drastic reduction in social interaction. On my job I interacted with 10s of people everyday, with a lot of very stimulating conversation. You lose much, most or all of that when you retire. Humans are naturally social animals, even for those humans who think they are not. Losing that social interaction is a big factor in your health declining when you retire.

Scotty I have a 2015 Mustang Gt wit manual transmission. Seems like a have a vibration at highway speeds. Recently I purchased new tires and had alignment and new front rotors but I discover there was a bolt missing from the linkage for my driveshaft (its a 2 piece unit. Replaced the bolt and it still has vibration. Ive even swapped my old rotors back on to see if the new rotors and pads were the problem. Could it be that my drive shaft is out of balance because of the missing bolt? I was unaware that it was missing before I discovered it so I drove it briefly to test it. Would you suggest purchase a new oem driveshaft or a pull off or attempt to get it balanced if thats the problem?

Yes, we are like cars in a way. When we are born we are brand new. Some of us are born rich (think Ferrari, McLaren etc, some are born poor (toyota, honda, ford) but as we get older we need to modify ourselves to enhance our performance (exercise, compete, study, learn etc etc) but eventually after many many years when we have accumulated enough mileage our bodies start breaking down and we need to maintain ourselves more and more. And when you die; your engine is finally dead, your transmission is busted for good and they throw you in a hole in the ground in a cemetery (the human Junkyard. .. . so rev up your. Humanity?

Scotty, Have ever heard of a Mens Shed? In Australia we have a thing called the Mens Shed where retired blokes come together and talk over a cup of coffee, do things together like woodwork, woodturning, metal working and doing projects for the local community. We talk to blokes who have many talents from their work of trade and LEARN something new and how it is done. We have the occasional little seminars on mens health where a health professional talks about mens problems. Our last one was on prostate cancer and the signs to be aware of. Maybe it is time to take a look at this and start one up.

Ill tell ya Scotty Im not bored with my retirement and love it everyday. I worked 55 years of my 72 year life and planned to retire when I did and have not been disappointed, nor do I wish or miss work. I stay in good health, exercise everyday, eat well and take good care of my spiritual and physical health. Ive re-connected with friends and family and stay active and busy daily. In short, I believe life is what you make it and the good Lord has given me this opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest. Though I enjoyed working, I highly recommend retirement to anyone who is ready.

Speaking about bogus information. I saw a YouTube video and the guy was promoting a device to reverse bleed your brakes. The selling points were you could blead the brakes yourself and becausethe airis onthe top of the brake fluid you would be sure to get all the air out of your system when you blead the brakes. Wouldnt a person take a chance ofmessing upthe anti-lock brakes or the master cylinder pushing all the dirty brake fluid from the wheel cylinders back through the brake system? Thanks.

Sorry for all you brainwashed fellows who do not have a family to enjoy. I hear this crap about working till i drop but nature was never about that. I am one of those suckers. When you put in 25 to 30 years of honest work even the ancient Persians realized that you earned your respect and retirement. There is wisdom in the old ways but only unknown risks and consequences in the new. CheeeeeeersGet a family and make sure your legacy continues. F the efing official marrative

yup, I had older parents (and they of course had older friends) so I could observe older people close up. As a teenager I came to the conclusion that retirement = death. The only old guys that made it for more than a couple of years are the ones that had a reason to get up in the mornings. (hint, your family is NOT enough. I made up my mind when I was young that I will Never retire. Just move on to different things. ;)

Yeah, I agree, about keeping working. Or if u have a active hobby is good, as long as its healthy. Its depressing doing nothing. And a bored person gets in the most trouble. Hence a lot of people causing problems are out of work. And dont have any real direction, or hobbies. So yeah, keep working. Having somewhere to be and expected to be does a lot for us mentally and physically.
