I think YouTube has a really hard job when it comes to deciding what is appropriate content and how to regulate it, however if the content is innocent and passes YouTubes guidelines, Im not sure its their responsibility to regulate how people consume said content. There are young people in bathing suits all over tv and no one ever says thats not okay because of adults responding inappropriately. I think its pretty clear that even though YouTube tries to act like the leader of this virtual community, they have really built a place where the community personally tries to hold people accountable for their actions. It doesnt matter that YouTube refuses to support Pewdiepie or Shane Dawson, they are still the biggest creators on the platform. Similarly when people have done things that went too far, many of them have been pushed off or away from the platform. Maybe YouTube could look into some sort of comment or account ban based on what people comment, but I really feel its our job collectively to hold people accountable (in a non-threatening, reasonable fashion) and make sure that they dont feel comfortable acting like this in our space. It should not be the creators fault if they follow the rules, in fact, at that point they are a victim and therefore should definitely not be the one punished.

How about a report category for comments that says PEDOPHILIC COMMENT - INITIATE POLICE INVESTIGATION OF USERObv this is not likely to happen, however if the problem is trying to not take down innocent videos then maybe MAYBE agencies centered around stopping child exploitation should be involved when these creep ass scumbags openly and publically drool over tiny girls and say these disgusting things. They are no longer scared to VERY PUBLICLY show how disgusting they are and to me if you are gross enough to horndog out over a 10 yr olds body then its not unlikely you would be hurting an innocent child behind closed doors. Lets start reporting these pedophiles in a way that directs ACTUAL consequences to them, send lists of these flagged user names/I. P. addresses whatever to an actual law enforcement agency for investigation.

Female kids showing their bodies is being normalized by so many non pedophile people as well like its some kind of defense of body positivity. Like I got into an argument with a woman over a picture that 16yo actress Rowan Blanchard posted on IG where everything shes wearing is fine BUT her top is exposing literally like 80% of her breasts. Just because her nipples are covered up doesnt make it any less ok. Its like along the lines of that Miley Cyrus shoot that some magazine did back when she was like 15. Like they shouldnt have to go everywhere in snow suits or something crazy like that or be shamed for showing some stomach but cmon people theres a line that shouldnt be crossed. Keep your breasts, butt and genitals covered until youre 18 and legally an adult.

I genuinely don't get how people like Matt would fix this without just banning children from the platform. In the same way that an attractive woman's comment section has like a 60% chance of being trash (provided their content isn't gender exclusive like makeup, even if they don't post compromising content, the only way to stop comments is to not allow children or to not allow content with children to have comments which. I mean, it solves the problem which is your peace of mind, since that's really what a lot of the outrage is about. People, even pedophiles, watching bikini hauls isn't hurting anyone and there needs to be a stronger focus on delineating what is predatory from what makes me uncomfortable.

Something needs to be done about this. My biological father is a pedophile and he actively looks for this kind of thing online to get off on. Its making me sick to my stomach. Theres thousands if not millions of pedophiles out there who prey on children and teens and look for this content to do Awful things with. If parents knew the truth and the children knew the truth, this content wouldnt exist unless the parents are freaks trying to make money off soft child porn. THIS NEEDS TO END. And child predators should do themselves a favour and turn themselves into the police or just cease to exist. I feel its okay to wish death on people who abuse children. Thats the only exception.

New outlets need to understand that YouTube is the worlds biggest video streaming site with millions of house of video uploaded every day. The mainstream media seem to overestimate what technology is capable of. YouTube are doing their best but its impossible for them to review every uploaded video. It's also impossible for their AI to check every video as quickly as the MSM seem to think it can. The servers aren't as fast as MSM think they are. Then you get into the rabbit hole of altering the algorithm but if they do that it'll start flagging safe videos. Its a mess and the MSM don't understand what they're talking about.

On the subject of inappropriate comments on otherwise innocent videos, off the top of my head I can think of a simple fix. When uploading a video, have a check box that asks if their are any minors in the video. If selected, have the comment section automatically require approval of the uploader for any comments. and that checkbox cannot be undone after upload is complete. Is it perfect? No. Does it stop all inappropriate comments? No, simply because some unloaders are lazy, wont read them and just approve them. but it would drastically reduce them.

About the big problem here, I think a more deliberate and slower process of getting rid of the users should take effect rather than a big blanket solution that effects the creators and other youtubers as well. I know they have to do something and need to act quickly, but I'm just not sure what it is that's the best path. But I think at least attempting to comb through these comments on their own and not with an algorithm and do the deepest ban they can, be it IP address or whatever. I know proxies exist but maybe it's worth a shot, I don't know.

I may be pretty technically naive about this Youtube/pedophile issue, but if the NSA and other Intelligence agencies can do deep dives into every single American's computer/ phone activity, why can't a small section of these agencies be dedicated to investigating the pedophile comments on these videos? If the intrusive capacity of these agencies and their monitoring programs are to be believed to have any merit or competency, then having some part of them focus on such a serious issue would be at least some partial justification.
