Wait so are they seriously suggesting a 5 year old kid is going to watch a Ryans toy review, not understand that something is sponsored and want it it, and then what? Get in their car, drive to the store and buy it? Ryans toys review is not aimed at 5 year old kids, its aimed at the PARENTS of the 5 year olds kids because I dont know, they have THE ACTUAL ABILITY TO DO MORE THAN POINT AT THE SCREEN AND SAY I want that. Like what is the difference between a kid watching an ad on tv or in a Ryans toy review, in both cases the kid doesnt under stand its an ad and may want the toy, but in both cases it doesnt matter because in the end a parent who DOES understand will be the only one capable of actually acting upon the childs want. I have never seen a Ryans toy review and have ZERO skin in this game but I gotta call bullshjt when the pile is this large.

Seriously? People need to start monitoring their own kids. This is why a lot of people don't monitor their kids, because they expect the television and the Internet to do so. It's not fair to make other people accommodate their kids. It's not fair that YouTubers that work hard are going to lose a lot of money or are going to quit, because people don't want to monitor their own kids. That's what's wrong with this country instead of making them monitor their kids, they keep making accommodations for them and it's just going to keep enabling them not to. I'm not going to be surprised when the end of YouTube happens because of the changes they keep making.

I haven't seen anything that helps me understand why it's bad that a kid can't tell if it's an advertising or not. It's not like the kid has money to spend my son likes watching kids play with toys if he's watching a YouTube video so he gets new ideas for toys that he likes and then I get ideas because he tells me that he wants those toys that that I make a decision if I want to get him a toy this is ridiculous though cracking down on a kid playing with toys because he's making money from Target? I guess I don't understand who the victim is here. Is the victim the parent because now their kid wants a toy? There's got to be bigger fish to fry out there

I can't help but feel sorry for Ryan Toys Review. I actually believe they were just trying to make some extra buck on the side with what the parents more than likely thought was harmless advertising. Having said that, I do agree that it is unethical to advertise directly to children. So, as much as I feel for RTR, I do believe that they must make peace with the end of that particular practice, and any entities that do the same. However, given the breadth of YouTube's new policy, I worry for those who did not engage in such things, but will suffer nonetheless.

As an adult with no kids of my own. But having friends / family with kids I am very aware of how advertising effects children. It happened with toys in the 80's, things like transformers. Now all that stuff is classic, but looking back it definitely was built to stimulate sales. Essentially advertising is propaganda for companies. I know it's a strong word, but I think it fits the technical definition. Propaganda being blasted at children for the sole purpose of making money while they are at their most impressionable age seems questionable.

As an EU citizen studying in the UK I think the dick measuring contest between Johnson and the EU is going to be the worst and best thing to happen in Europe. It has the potential to end catastrophically for many people, but even if it does, it should and will serve as a learning experience like no other. This experiment is exactly what it is - an experiment. This is not the way to do politics, especially with so many global issues as hand, and I hope this is something we can take away at the end of the day.
