Europe's New Border Force Explained

Europe's New Border Force Explained I am honestly shocked at what I see here. I am in favor of good border protection. It is important and it is also right to share the burden among all member states. But nothing justifies this violation of human rights. It cant be that Europe praises its principles in a big way, if at the same time the border protection is partly responsible for the disappearance of more than 24000 people in the Mediterranean Sea. It cannot be that we put refugees in mortal danger, let them be tortured, enslaved and often willingly leave them to drown.
Before Frontex can be expanded, it must first get a grip on its problems. By the way, there are also signs of corruption at Frontex.

Everyone in the comments seem to have missed the point of the video.
I don't think anyone finds it controversial that Europe should have a coordinated service to deal with border issues and migration, it's just sense. What the video did point out as controversial was Frontex's tactics and modus operandi that go against EU principles and international convention.
I think for the EU, it would only be right then to determine a proper vision for Frontex and strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of its practices towards that vision, in line with EU and international law and convention.

the idea of letting foreigners come to our country, claim our social benefits all while not assimilating and committing more crime than it's native population is absurd to me. we should absolutely control our borders. we should protect our lands from invasions. i have no quarrel with immigrants who come here legally and assimilate to our culture and society, but all of the economic migrants (working, fighting age men, not refugees, crossing borders illegally, are not welcome. if they seek prosperity they should start with their own country and improve it.
reply

as a turk frontex looks like a good idea, look at my country, its filled with immigrants and most of our cities doesnt feel like turkish anymore, they are a huge burden on our already crippling economy and also ruining the demographics, arabs repopulate rapidly, (even compared to us turks who probably have the highest birthrate in europe) they are even incompatible with the turkish society let alone the west, so when welcoming immigrants a country needs to be HIGHLY selective, and frontex looks like a great solution against mass immigration

This is a very one sided take.
The real danger is from the human traffickers that put people on non sea worthy vessels that are supposed to create a SOS situation to then be picked up by the so called NGOs to be illegally shipped to the EU. Many maritime laws are being broken by ferrying them from the cost of Libya all the way to Italy, instead of to the nearest port.
If you keep that in mind, the cooperation with Libya is a great way to combat these traffickers that are indirectly supperted by all those NGO boats in the mediterrean.

There is growing number of these undocumented refugees gathering in my city in SE Europe. I don't know the exact number, but they are very visible downtown. Recently I spoke to a psychologist that works for the local police department. She told me the local police is getting ready for a spike in rape crimes due to the fact that some of the refugees have been around for 4 yours and this is the threshold when some of them start resorting to rape due to being away from their wives for so long. Happy times. Go Frontex, go pushback!
reply

What you showed in the video is not considered a -pushback- according to the definition you used, because A) They did not reach European territory yet since they are at the sea, they can't be pushed -back- from a place they've never been to, B) They are not being sent to a country where they might face persecution, Turkey has millions of refugees too and it's a vey stable country with a decent economy, it's not Syria.

Good to see people supporting Frontex. In the US there are migrants storming the southern border and the democrats actually support it. Good to see most of the people here don-t think like that. Now I have a little more faith in the EU because they actually invest a bit more lately in its militaries and protection. As an Israeli it-s very important to me, and of course happy to see my country accepting more contracts.

its been a 20 year invation, it has been undefended and has caused mass loss of life and distruction across europe, it has caused the instability of the entire region to the point where mass protests and riots are slowly becoming the norm and has even caused a member state to leave due to the lack of security. Simply put, if the EU dosnt start fighting back hard, they risk falling apart
reply

I think instead of increasing border protection, one should actually fight the problem at it-s source and support African countries in developing a democratic constitution- The same goes for Arabic countries, but many have lost hope there already. Regardless: I can-t think of another option, because people fleeing to Europe isn-t the solution to the problem, it just creates new ones.
reply

as a european citizen i support the idea of a european army but i think the memberstates are a bit too devided on most topics. Also to my noledge frontex is a relatively shitty organisation performing illigal pushbacks on immigrant boats usw. I do not want an european army that violates basic human rights like the us army for exemple
reply

Imagine you'd direct the amount of money to a safe route to Europe. How many thousands of lives would be saved each year. And if the EU would act smart they could even fix the problem of immigration and labor shortage in one go with progressive immigration policies but no. Frontex needs to perish and the EU is just - in this regard.
reply

if they are indeed the border guards then that's what they should do, protect the borders, not the people trying to cross them illegally. How about we just double down and be as brutal as it gets then it will discourage people form even trying to get across the sea and we won't get these people drowning when they fail.
reply

As a German living in a large city we face daily knife attacks by illegal migrants. Illegal migration Numbers are higher than 2015 and it seems hopeless-. Girls are gang raped and the guilty people are not even beeing deported but have to be reintegrated in the community where they committed the crime
reply

I am not even from Europe but I support Frontex whole heartedly. Those immigrant doesn't seek a better life, they are lazy and wanted a short cut to have a better life while leeching off social benefit. How naive does European politician is to think that are innocent civilian seeking help?
reply

One difficulty with the immigrant influence is that border countries are affected the most and maybe with that idea they should have the most sway in the matter only until until their fellow EU states are willing to contribute to the equal distribution of immigrants.
reply

it makes since why we are seeing more push backs in Europe. Europe is notoriously bad with integrating foreign cultures into there own as compared to America which for the better half of a century has done a decent job if not created a culture built on integration.
reply

The EU has never had control of the external border. They want to move the water to another room without fixing the leak, not very bright the Eurocrats in Brussels. The EU is unlikely to last unfortunately unless a much firmer stance is taken.
reply

It amazes me that the idea of stopping millions of rootless young men from unstable and alien cultures coming into your country: is somehow controversial.
It should be the most basic common sense that allowing that will be a disaster.

reply

So we expect to see a decrease of population in the near future, yet we refuse to let people come in. Immigrants are a net positive for the economy and the people in this comment have not opened a book in their lives
reply

What if Europe is sick of being pathetic and irrelevant, and they-re gonna start doing shit that the rest of the world doesn-t like, and treating refugees poorly? Sounds like a registered Eurotard moment
reply

Melila? by far the worse pronunciation of a city I've ever heard. Spanish is at least the second most phonetic language, but respect the double L. pronounce it like you would use Y in english: -Meliya-
reply

EU Citizen here, Frontex is one of the best initiatives in the past years, the only way a person can pass a border is by following the legal set out path for border crossing. More power to Frontex.
reply

Good. Many of these people don't want asylum through assimilation. Many of those people would turn the country into what they ran from. Free handouts for decades has only encouraged this.
reply

To be fair to Frontex, making -pushbacks- illegal and then condemning them for outsourcing border enforcement to foreign coastguards is putting them in a bit of a catch 22 situation.
reply

EU is doing correct thing, later these migrants will increase their population rapidly and then destroy Europe in the same way they destroyed their home lands
reply

Controversial for illegal immigrants. It is a normal thing to do to filter shit and deny it access. Incompatible people cause trouble, criminals should be sent back.
reply

frontex is a step in the right direction, a key part of a europeanized Defence and Security apparatus ready to take on any challenges or threats from outside
reply

Crazy to think there are entire cities in the EU with 100s of thousands of people, while the city itself is worth less than those contracts for surv. drones.
reply

Rich jews will never let us stop cheap migrant labour flowing into EU countries. We must first abolish the jewish leadership then we can abolish migrants!
reply

I don't like the idea of combining search and rescue with border enforcement. I worry boats will sink because migrants were too scared to call for help.
reply

They could have went against the US when they said they will bombard iraq and Syria, but they didn-t, remember europe, actions have consequences,
reply

Frontex is taking everything very seriously. In Evros where i live frontex has sent a zeppelin that is always looking at the greko-turkish border
reply

You have to enforce a border at some point sorry to say it but its true. If you want to come in then do it legally we dont owe anyone anything.
reply

I support all actions against illegal migrants, illegal migration is crime, and criminals should be punished, migrants are causing problems
