Let's retrace on an animated map a summary of the Seven Years' War, often called World War Zero LtexprsGaming: As an American we really only focused on the north American part of the war. And of course it got a much more descriptive title The French and Indian War which taught us a couple things. 1) this war would be a major reason leading up to the revolutionary war, 2) This is the reason why we speak English and not French (besides Quebec, 3) Britain and France hate each other and will do anything to try and win (see revolutionary war as another example.

The British victory in this war was resulted from several factors:
the French monarchy heiress of Rome (in institutions) despised work. The French aristocrat attached little importance to:
- the emerging industry (despite Colbert);
- the colonial conquests that left to noble adventurers (Montcalm in Canada or Dupleix in India. Gradually in the 18th, the French aristocracy was declining (spend money on the pageantry, ruinous wars)
The British elites, less influenced by Rome (anglo-saxons and Norman influences) were closer places of production. They managed their lands directly. This encouraged industrial development. The separation between the aristocracy and a mercantile bourgeoisie was less marked. The same is true in Holland and Germany. These are countries that have suffered less from the historical influence of Rome (Rome was ruled by the Slave Patricians.
France will finally embark on this path with the Revolution and the emergence of a new mercantile class. We know the rest. Otherwise, France would have a Spanish destiny. The Spanish aristocracy was enriched only by the gold of South America. They didn't initiate an agrarian reform hallowing the industrial develoment.

Britain major world power in 1762? No way that happened in 1805, not before.
Actually, Britain lost every war against Spain from 1714 to 1796. In this case, Spain recovered Florida a few years after during the Revolutionary War of United States (also seized an english 55-ship convoy.
Seriously, you should read more sources, and not just english sources. It is well known that english tend to lie or hide some facts.
The reality is that Spain and France ruled the world in 18th century due to their Pacte de Famille as both nations were governed by Bourbons.
That started to change at the moment that alliance got broken with the French Revolution in 1789

Canadians are still living with the consequences of the British document that created the Indian territory to the west of the American colonies, The Royal Proclamation of 1763. Although the British extended their sovereignty over most of North America, they acknowledged indigenous peoples' title to land and the right of self-government. Native rights have repeatedly been the subject of challenges in court, and the British position at the conclusion of the Seven Years' War has often served as the basis of judges' decisions.

Nice summary of a very complicated war - very useful. The only point I would contend - at the end you said Britain imposed taxes on the Americans to pay for the war in Europe. My understanding was that because the American colonists kept ignoring the agreed treaty with the Indians Britain was forced to station troops in America. The (not unreasonable) taxes imposed were to pay for these troops to protect the American colonists.

Half the casualties of the war were civilians, and then the populace, the civilians, are taxed to restore the treasuries of the governments that forced war on the people. Curious, neither the rank and file soldier nor the citizens have any real say or stake in the war but, yet they ultimately prosecute and pay for the war. In the intervening years and centuries nothing has changed. When will we learn.

In America the Seven Years War is known as the French and Indian War. When learning about this war in school, it was never placed in a global context; rather we were taught how the British military and plucky American Colonists saved America from the predatory native heathens and their duplicitous French allies.
It was in this conflict that George Washington got his military experience.

Imagine being Spain, you join in on the pretty-losing side with only a year of war left to go and you lose. If theyd just kept neutral they would probably be much stronger in the years to come and would even probably still be able to seize Louisiana all while keeping Florida.

Geo History, you forgot to mention that the Dutch joined the 7years war to support France due to the British invasion of Capetown and lost the war to Britain. And after that, the British deported the Dutch just like they did to the Acadians.

I wish I was born King of France. I would have done all I could to make France as effective as possible. Sure, I wouldnt have modern ideals like social equality, but I feel like the Kings after Louis XIV were incompetent.

Can't be considered a world war when so few nations were involved. An intercontinental war would be more accurate because some of the same nations in war had forces and territories in other parts of the world.

The Seven Years War springboarded the British empire by allowing them to annex all of Bengal, giving them millions of new subjects to tax and trade with, also giving them strong foothold in India.

French foolish king, destroyed his army in Germany and forgot important colonies around the world. I don't know, why they always wanted to be ally of Spain. France hurted a lot because of this alliance.
