Me and my brother have the ACTN3 gene that makes power sports easier.
It's ridiculous what I have seen my brother lift.
He deadlifted what some guys on juice and were huge could not.
Did 3 reps of it as well.
Then spent 3 days in bed because he shot up his nervous system in the process.
All the ACTN3 gene does, is allow for more explosive/violent contractions of muscle.
In the process risking injury massively.
But allowing for feats of strength that seem unusual for the person doing them.
So when you see a guy lifting heavy, but he's smol. He probably just tore something.

Bit of a twist to the challenge of the workout that you demonstrated, back in '90 I was in an automobile accident when a larger vehicle struck my '88 Volkswagen Cabriolet head on, driver to driver. From which I broke both legs, ankles to hips, & my face. Amazingly though I did not loose a tooth. From the accident, I have seizures when I over exuberate. However, I've been working in a Hospital, transporting Patients. That's my exercising.

The more I think about it the more I realize the muscles activated by dumbbell's ad barbell's are not entirely strength based instead of just contraction. I mean how many objects do we handle in our daily lives that are shaped like dumbbell's or barbell's? Lifting stones, logs, and pushing/pulling heavy carts would be more functional to your muscles. Im no expert its just a slightly un-educated guess lol.

There's no way they got enough protein to make serious gains just from eating fish and game. I think I read somewhere that they and other Europeans drank milk to get their protein. There was probably an intuitive connection that people made between young calves growing into strong bulls and the milk they drank. Also: why are so many people so into deadlifting? The squat is clearly the superior lift.

since you asked, i'm gonna be honest and say i pulled 80kg the other night. im still a new beginner at lifting and deadlift is definitely my weakest compound in terms of form (used to murder my lower back on every rep until I improved my form last night, but hopefully I can work up to viking level someday

actually viking were weaker than we think, viking had a poor diet, and could have never eaten enough to support the physique people fantasize them to have. Most people think of the depiction on their fake gods and apply it to the people

I think they were munch more mentally strong than anything. Back then you had to be a real man to survive, not some media molded egotistical drama queen. You would die from exhaustion or hunger before anyone robbed and killed you.

Why wouldn't you show actual an strongman doing an actual stone lift? You could've got Alan on, might not be actually Scandinavian, but def passes the beard pre-reqs!

Vikings were a very dominating force of the north, for good reason. But if you think those guys were intimidating, never think of confronting a berserker-

Good show, but I would have liked to see you try an actual stone, like the strongman competitions do. Lot more muscle groups involved.
