Dad was there as a commissioned Officer with British Royal Artillery Air Assault ( Paras ) and Acting Deck Captain aboard the ships tasked with delivering the Troopers to front lines. It robbed him of his soul, because I believe the battle left indelible scars at a time when sucking it up was official policy. When I was diagnosed with PTSD 20 years ago he said get over it. He never did, neither have I.

you forgot to mention probably the main reason israel joined- the tension in its southern border. with egypt during the 50s sending many terror units to attack israeli forces and civilians through it.
israel may have retreated quickly but in the short conquest it managed to destroy the egyptian military bases infrastructure in the region and make the attacks through the border stop for many years.

Nixon said the US couldnt condemn the Soviet suppression of the Hungarian Revolution that was happening at the same time, because they cant say the Soviets were imperialists when NATO allies were invading Egypt. Presumably they couldnt do that in the 60s either because of Vietnam. So finally in the 80s the coast was clear for Reagan to denounce USSR as the Evil Empire.

LMFAO, The Brits and French are the most devious AF, nations in world history: would capture the cyanide canal, under the pretext, of restoring order. the US political elite were just pissed, that they didn't see it coming and were not on the same sly, conniving level, as their father figures. Ever since, they have looked to be equally devious AF, to catch up

Egypt was so important to the two big super powers that they actually wanted to win them over, to the limit the USSR and USA had to share the same choice, eventually what the UK and France add to them israel did was make what the USA feared come true, Egypt went Communist afterwards, and not only that many arab nations as well

Eisenhower would later say his one regret from his Presidency was turning against Britain and France during the Suez Crisis
He said it severely weakened them as major powers on he World stage while making them a bit more hostile to America.
Basically he turned against his allies and regretted it

Kinda sad to see the two great colonial powers of old, hero's of both of the great wars that put america where it is now being shut down by the new powers like it was just another Monday. (Not to imply that said colonial powers were ethical empires in the slightest, of course)

The West always assumes it can dictate the entire world's internal policies and decisions. if you were ever curious where the hatred for the USSR and modern China come from - it's this; both of those countries can't/couldn't be forced to obey the West.

Slightly disappointed that Canada's diplomatic efforts aren't mentioned in the video. We are really proud of how Lester Pearson got the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in the de-escalation of the Suez crisis. Apart from that it's a good video lol

Realistically there was never any chance of the Soviets deploying Nukes as by that point Britain had already developed their own nuclear arsenal and, even without America, it would of meant mutual assured annihilation for both nations.

Egypt: takes something from everyone
Britain and France: try to get it back for everyone
Everyone: I hate Britain and France
Can someone explain the worldwide response to me? I'm very unfamiliar with this topic

Suez Crisis is one of the greatest moments in history, because it was basically the final blow that ended Britains hold on their horrible rule of the world that brought nothing good, except standardised time

How dare Egypt nationalise something within their own borders that was created by an empire they didnt want. Those empires stand for freedom and self-determination while subjugating nearly half of the world.

An Egyptian geophysicist told me how Britain had stashed water stores in the desert for future emergency use, but the Egyptians found and removed them ahead of the invasion using geophysical techniques!

Some say it wasn't just the USSR that threatened the French and English with the big bombs but the US did as well. This is one of the reasons France started its own nuclear weapons program.
