Also, bonus fact: In Portugal, when the Knights Templar were disbanded, the Portuguese crown refused to give their property to the Knights Hospitaller (because they were foreign. Instead they created a brand new order, the Order of Christ and gave it all of the Knights Templar's property. It's members were also all ex-Templars. Totally different thing, though.

Only 3 countries didn't prosecute them. Hungary where they were incorporated into the army, Scotland, and Portugal where they became the Order of Christ.
An interesting tidbit is that the King of Portugal became the head of the Order of Christ and this title passed to the President. Since the order still exists on paper, the Portuguese president is essentially the head of the Templars.
