Trotsky was a fanatic. Even more so than Stalin. According to AlternateHistoryHub, if he succeeded Lenin instead of Stalin, Trotsky would have done most of the same things, covertly incited Communist revolutions in other countries, and invaded Nazi Germany. Putting Britain and France in the awkward position of teaming up with Germany and Italy to counter Soviet aggression.
In short, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 1.

Trotsky was cool, the only reason he didnt succeed Lenin was because he knew it and missed out on important debates/meetings. Stalin was also able to control some of the key positions in the party, he was underestimated because of it because his position was seen as unimportant and boring, and was lucky enough for Lenin to be incapacitated after his strokes and not remove him from power.

Fascinating, in Australia a politician called another a Trotsky-ite I wondered what he meant.
It turns out in the 1920s when Communism was rising, Trotsky was a Left wing Communist if such a thing was possible. Yes he thought communism didnt go far enough. Not only that he wanted a world wide communist state.

I wonder what it would have been like if he legit just went to Congress and explained Communism to Americans on a national stage. Would we be as fearful of Marxism? Would the Red Scare have even happened if a mass cultural icon sat all of America down for an hour and said this is what Marxism is?

I enjoy these informative and insightful documentaries, but please ask the narrator to speak a little more slowly. There's a lot of information to digest in a relatively short period of time and I think it would be helpful to slow down a little. Thanks.

He was a true communist. Lenin should have made it clear Trotsky is the rightful leader of bolsheviks. He was a citizen of the world, seeking a global socialist regime. Stalin is the archenemy of communism, and a close friend of capitalism.

I think the french could have actully used trotsky to ethier divide the communist by having a pro trotsky faction vs a pro soviet union faction or by unifing the communists under him rather than have theam take orders from moscow

Trotsky no doubt was in some aspects worse then Stalin. Stalin was insane but Trotsky was dangerously smart and cold. No doubt if he would of gotten control over the USSR he would of been the big bad of WW2

To be fair to Trotsky, he spent most of his time drinking and partying with local artists and intellectuals wherever he went. Certainly more than he spent writing or giving speeches.

I normally like your kind of quick delivery, but here it feels cruel. He was for the workers = ice pick to the back of the head. I mean, it's true, but it shouldn't be.

Imagine Trotsky avoiding assassins and taking over Mexico and making People republic of Mexico. Than exporting revolution to US and Canada, that would be fun world

You missed his extended stay with Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera (1937-1939) where spent much of his time sleeping with Frida. Passed the time, I assume.
