Why did so many countries get involved in the Boxer Rebellion? Documentary

The Boxer Rebellion saw Chinese rebels attempt to force foreign influence out of the country and it resulted in none of that happening. Instead eight great powers formed a coalition to crush the rebellion and force more concessions out of China. But given how much the great powers disliked each other why did they team up and what made the Boxer Rebellion in particular so important?

The usual over simplification. Missionaries and coverts were murdered. Mostly by cruel means, the Chinese governor in one location had 30+ missionaries and their families chopped to pieces while alive. Chinese converts were burned alive. As to exemption from foreign laws, slavery was still practiced, no trial by jury; to name one point. Exemption from Japanese laws was initially true in Japan as well after it opened up; but that requirement was eliminated after Japan adopted a variant of the Napoleonic code that was the norm in Europe. This was done before 1884 while Imperial China made no changes. Also there's evidence that the Imperial Chinese government was using the Boxers initially to carry out what the government actually wanted; remember regular Chinese troops also fought the Western power.

Once upon a time, I was minding my own business. A group of strangers shown up to our land with big guns, they forced us to share land with them, forced us to abandon our god and switch to theirs, they didn't want to pay tax and refused to leave. One day, my neighbor killed one of them, they came back as alliance, burned down our houses, took all our belongings that were heritated from our forefathers and raped our women. And then, they made a movie about it.

I think its disgusting that you feel that a sense of brotherhood between the Great powers should come at the cruel expense of the Chinese people, whom the great powers were there to exploit. You actually explain this issue of brutal exploitation of the Chinese quite well, yet it simmers off into an inconsideration to the end of your video.

Interestingly, the Chinese military governors to the south, like Yuan Shi Kai chose not to defend Beijing. Yuan had a modern army stationed not far from Beijing, yet he lied to the Imperial Court and did not act. Instead he approached the Germans and made them promised not to invade his province

After the Eight-nation army occupied Beijing, they did horrible things. Irish journalist, George Lynch, said there are things that I must not write, and that may not be printed in England, which would seem to show that this Western civilisation of ours is merely a veneer over savagery.

Why is Japan Brown?
The only reason the 3 Oriental Countries aren't called white as we can see with their skin color is because they didn't embrace Christianity and considered Europeans barbarians.
The average Person in these countries are White skinned.

Basically China had access to every resource on the planet. Desert resources to the west, snow/tundra resources to the north, ocean resources to the east, jungle/forest resources to the south. And they were heavily underdeveloped during that time.

You are, in most cases, neutral enough, but still can't escape euro-centralism. This episode is completely based on a European perspective, without mentioning the Chinese side, which is that it is a joint-invasion by 8 foreign countries.

It's only fair that China Dishes back out what these Nations did to China. Given a few decades, China should be able to do Just that and I wish they do on behalf of all all the other smaller nations that suffered too, including mine.
