Hey everyone, hope you're all having a great August so far and that school is treating you well. We're thinking of doing a school series on tips to stay motivated, studying when you're depressed, making friends etc. Tips on staying motivated is one of our first videos of the series

Ok, I need help with something, so please listen and give your opinions and diagnosis plz.
1. I shake whenever I talk about myself, in fact thinking about talking about myself makes me shake terribly
2. I hate even numbers, I always count by 3, 5, or 7s
3. I count my serial, eat them in 3s, and hate stepping on cracks
4. I always feel like I'm being watched, despite knowing how insignificant I am
5. I am easily Paranoid and HATE being alone
6. I hate mirrors, Paintings, Pictures, and anything with eyes really(that is not living)
7. I will never settle for 4, when given 4 of something I usually give one away so that I have 3, even if it hurts me
8. I have huge trust issues, and I do not trust anyone(not even my friends) except my cat
9. I hate all things popular, and will stop doing something if it becomes popular
10. I count every step I make in 3s
11. I tend to forget what I talk about
12. I speak to myself a lot, when alone, once my mother over heard it and was confused why
13. I hate being selfish, even jealousy can make me hate myself
14. I prefer speaking in front of groups rather than a 1v1
15. I can be too random at the worst times, but I cant help it
16. I dont complain about anything most of the time, even pain
17. I hate it when people worry about me
18. I hate eye contact, I cant do it or I freak out
19. some of these things are unrelated, but these are what crossed my mind when asking(I also needed to make a #19)

That indeed was helpful. I play the violin, and my goal is to succeed in make my living by music (violin & singing. I have some kind of exam coming in half a month but this particular time it is going to be really hard and sometimes I am just kind of disapointed and anxious. I don't feel like giving up or something, but at times I feel like I just won't make through that extremely important task, cause generally the situation is getting really hard. :( but I stay motivated for two reasons: first, I come to realize that I actually CAN make it through the exam, cause I trust my teacher and father and also Myself, I regain confidence thanks to all three above: ). Second, I trully want to live by playing and making music, join some orchestra or something, music is my entire life and it will be aaawesome to achieve my dream: ) so I need to do my best and go on, instead of feeling down and giving up. I'll never give up on music! Your advice was encouraging and helpful, thank you

the problem with me is i cant get myself to move i set times for myself to do what work i should get done but when that time arrives i just either procrastinate or even if i really do want to get it done still cant get myself to weirdly idk whats wrong with me exactly XD i know i have to get things done and if i dont its going to get bad but idk how to get myself to move. even if i get myself to do it i just get distracted by thoughts and am barely able to focus on the work since its hard for me to control thoughts even a little or other times i just straight up forget cause very bad memory the way i have been has led to a very negetive mindset and i just dont know how to push myself anymore though the problem was'nt that bad if i could'nt push myself others could and i was able to alittle bit because of them now it seems about no one is able to push me at all

Those are all great techniques to stay motivated. I use them too.
One way I stay motivated is through prayer. However one understands their Higher Power is unique in many ways however, I believe there is a force of nature in all of us that we can draw strength from.
When I feel burnt out or tired, I ask not to be made to rest yet, if it be Thy will. Some times it works, and when it doesn't, I've come to find that I was putting my energy into something I shouldn't have. Another example, when I feel weak, I ask for the strength to carry on.
No matter how one conceives of spirituality, I've found by asking for what I need, it helps me a lot. The same goes when I'm trying to help other people.
Hope this was helpful!

Seeing as how I'm writing a pretty ambitious fanfiction now, this should be useful for people like me.
Recently I ran into a roadblock where I kind of screwed up with how I was setting up the story, so I had to go back and re-write it. Thankfully though I managed to make it through the storm and got my footing much better than last time.
Edit: Surprisingly, I've been using methods 1-4 on my own without even knowing it. The only reason I didn't do the 5th one is because I'm scared that if I have one lapse in concentration I'll just slip into a phase where I write absolutely nothing. But now I guess I don't have too much to worry about in that regard.
Thanks Psyche2Go. You always seem to help me with each new video.

I found out that the ultimate secret to staying motivated is to focus on what you want, not on what you don't want or the LACK of what you want, and feel the goal as if it's yours, like you would do with something like deciding to invite your friends to eat pizza, you feel happy about those things before they happen you don't DOUBT that they will happen even if you don't have the pizza. And most important of all keep all the contradictory thought away from your mind, that's what stops people, you know if you're in the right track based on how you feel, if you feel good you're in a mindset free of opposing thoughts, if you feel bad, you're focusing on what you don't want or you have opposing thoughts.

I always tend to feel most demotivated when I'm not with my loved ones. Or friends enjoying something with me or really when I'm not able to show them the cool expirences and gain inspiration from them. So I feel lost. Problem is I don't have many friends around and usually what I set for goals isn't doable because all of them are busy or don't communicate much.
I hope I can be confident and tell myself that this is a a temporary thing. And the storm will pass. Because I know what I need in specifics just have no way to get there.

I'm unemployed for a month and I should look for another job, I sent some resumes but. I suffer from anxiety and depression and I know, by the past, the struggle it was to find a job. i'm so insecure and i'm so scared of the job world that I can't stay motivated. I hater myself so much and feel bad all day long. How can I find a job. I feel so worthless and feel like everything is in vain. Even if by miracle they call me for an interview, I wouldn't dare to answer. Omg I'm such a mess I hate myself.

Sometimes I realize I'm just tired and take some time to rest. If that doesn't work, I remind myself that nothing will get done unless I do it. Otherwise it'll just sit there not getting done. Then sometimes I just know I'm not going to want to do it so I just get started without thinking because I could just mske up reasons to not do it. For an extra push I stew in how much I don't want to do the task so I will hurry up and complete it. (this way I wont have to do it anymore)

I stay motivated by thinking of the change I could make, in a bit of an animal rights fanatic, and Im thinking Ill be a conservation officer, and I want to educate people about animal care in captivity so exotic pets can have healthy, happy life. I know if I work for it then I can change the lives of animals and I stay motivated by those in need. Sounds cheesy but whatevs

I'm about to start online school for junior year (I'm 16 and dropped out of normal school) and I want to graduate but I'm super depressed which makes me unmotivated a lot of the time. I needed this video and I really hope it helps when I'm thinking about laying in bed all day. Also, I'm starting to diet. I have a lot on my plate right now. ha, get it?

But its the best university from my country. I dont really have a life anymore xD

Psych2Go maybe you can make a video about how to get a good routine going? Or how to prioritize things when you have a million things to do? Since I have Asperger's Syndrome the thought came to mind that you could make a video about Asperger's and depression or anxiety? That would be absolutely amazing! Thanks!

I was already using almost everything u said in this video, the second option is my last hope to stop procrastinating and get things done, but its a little hard for me to find normal friends because I dont like going outside or to parties, Im just a typical introvert

Set your bigger goals into smaller one is soo useful, i always use this technique to motivate myself and it always works
For example it may seem overwhelming to write a book
But when you try to write 2 pages everyday it suddenly doesn't look that hard

The only barrier that keeps me from staying motivated is my mood swings. I know I'm supposed to be able to handle them with time but I just instantly though that they go with things you can't control kinda stuff and it's quite annoying to deal with.
reply

Hey, could you make a video about how competition in school and jobs affect young children and young adults? I've recently watched the documentary Alphabet by Erwin Wagenhofer and I think this topic would make a great Psych2Go video: )

here's another good one.
A dream written down with a date becomes a goal.
A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan.
A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.
No idea who wrote this little gem

1: 08 - realize what you can control
1: 48 - have people in your life who believe in your potential
2: 27 - adapt a different perspective on your obstacles
3: 05 - set small goals
3: 42 - don't forget to have fun

Stuck in such a rut. I haven't been able to keep myself focused on any of the tasks at hand. With school starting up again in less than a week, I really need to get my poop in a group and begin a better routine.

Thank you for making such helpful videos, we all need them and love them. The animations are so cute and awesome. I have been procrastinating so much. I should get my arse to work on my new video now. Damn.
reply

I thought I couldn't get through to the point where I felt overworked, now that I watch this I think I can do it and not overthink things, I'm going to try, p. s. - love your videos, this has helped a lot
reply

When someone tells me I cant do something is the only time I'm motivated to do the thing that person said I cant do because I think: fk you. I'm going to do it JUST because you said i cant.
reply

I really needed this because I really struggle with motivation and looking at the bigger picture of things. I really live in the moment and procrastinate until its to late to do anything
reply

I've been battling BAD social media anxiety, and y'all just helped me, not only stay motivated, but to also stay in the now as well! Thank you guys so much!
