My best friend of 5 years is a pathological liar. she lies about unnecessary things like how a boy gave his jacket to her or how she has two boyfriends when she is not dating anyone. I confronted her about it and she said that she is just insecure. and dealing with that right now and I'm like okay I get that you going through that coz it's a difficult phase but that doesn't give you a right to lie and also everyone goes through that. I went through it too and she was never there for me. she was and still just talks about herself. and when I was dealing with my insecurities she was also contributing to that because I would come with the nice hairstyle at school and everyone will be commenting me but when ask her she would just be like yah. It's not bad. Plzz tell me how to deal with this. I don't know how I should cut her off coz she is always guilt tripping me and makes me feel sorry for her. I really don't know what to do

Hi Psych2Go! You are probably never gonna read this but I am experiencing a fake friend right now. All the signs point to her, she is always negative to others and is egotistic. I don't know how to let it go and if I think I do, my other friends will naturally stop talking to me as well. Everybody reading please help me out. I notice her copying my tests and my profiles all the time. I act like it's not a big deal cuz I don't wanna make drama. Recently I had a birthday party but she just invited me to her one which was the same idea as my party! I think she is too proud and she always says she is too positive. Everyone reading please give me advice because I can't stop thinking about it and it is fraustrating me so much. I really need a solution.

This is exactly how my past friendship (bestfriend) was. I cut her off when the damage was more than enough, I kept being her friend, I thought I wouldnt have other friends because Ive always had bad luck with friendships. I let myself be dragged down by/with her and she always wanted to be with me when I hung with other people, she pushed me aside when she was with other people and always tried to make me feel inferior, when really I was the only true friend she had, the only person who tolerated her and she was funny and known because of me.
So yeah, my advice is that if this sounds familiar just get out of there, do it for you and only you

Funny how i don't have any friends and this is all true about my cousin sister she is extrovert and i am a introvert in our school i am the quiet no one knows i exist. But my sister have so many friends and they always gossip my sister always judge me she told me the insecurities i didn't know i had. she always manipulate me to do things i don't want i am sensitive and she knows it but she always act rude around me i Don't show it outside but inside i am dying. I feel betrayed anyway. I feel like no one is real for me. everyone uses me for homework.

I recently found my former best friends didnt actually want to be my friend so instead of saying what is bothering them they avoided me for YEARS I couldnt figure out why
then later sent me a email telling me what a horrible person I was to them and how they were the punished and tortured
Funny enough, they didnt give me a single example
Do you know why? Because it wasnt true besides if they didnt want to be my friend why didnt they drop me as soon as I was being manipulative (btw I dont think they know what manipulation means)

Once I remember attempting to take my own life, my best friend came to support me and at first she was amazing held my hand and sat with me but while we were stuck in the ward for about 3 hours she sat and spoke about her, her dating life, her selfies she took and I remember her asking me which ones to post. on and on and on. When I was in school, I wanted to be the kind of girl that was everyone's friend but after hearing about some of the qualities of fake friendships, most of the people I was friends with were fake. Luckily, I don't keep in touch with them but no matter the situation, you would always find these kind of people, unfortunately.

Fake friend have many signs like you know the moment you can't find a topic to share you feel that you are trying to make conversation going up while she just listen and never try to share up she is selfish from any achievement you make and think of you as an competition that's really hurt

Most of these make me relize that i am a fake freinds. Its just my personality a d i didnt mean to hurt anyones feelings. I do it out of the fear of being judged. Not for sympathy. Evreyone is different and we cant assume that tjey are fake just becuase they act this way. Thx.

God, I hate highschool and middleschool. I mean from 6th grade, every school year I always get fake friends and I am in 11th grade rn, and I just gave up socializing in school, but hey, at least I can socialize in the internet because it feels so much better than school

Its sad how you will find more fake friend's in life than real ones
To make real friends you need to be open and vulnerable but thats the trick you cant be open to everyone because there are people who will take advantage of you if you open up to them
