I believe I have social anxiety, but to the point where it is very severe. I have no resources to go get professionally diagnosed, but I quite literally have every single symptom said here but to the extreme. i never really thought it was a disorder, until today when I decided to do a lot of research, I just thought it was a confidence issue. I remember I was going to target, leaving my house and went to the train station. I had my natural hair out as I never do unless I go to school, and whenever I go out I have on a hoodie. I was on the train, and I felt everybody staring and had a really really really really really bad fear of people critiquing me. I had to get off at the next stop and go on the other side of the platform to go home. I had it so bad to the point where I thought I had a panic attack. I had trouble breathing, I was breathing inconsistently, I felt embarrassed. I ran home crying. I got home and shut the door when the feeling intensifies. social anxiety is horrible, and I wouldnt wish it on anyone. I would do anything to be a typical normalperson.

as a person who suspects they have social anxiety (not diagnosed, i love talking on the phone. when im talking on the phone nobody can see me, they dont know what i look like and it feels comfortable and safe. im not thrown in front of someone and expected to talk. ive skipped lunch sometimes, because the tables had people on them, and i get super anxious and nervous trying to sit next to someone, its really awkward and it feels like theyre going to judge me. during online school, i never went on mic (even though cam was mandatory, which i hated, because i was scared to talk to the teacher, but i conversed with everyone with ease in the chat area. i feel like im an ambivert with social anxiety, because i dislike being alone and having no one to talk to most of the time, but i also need some alone time just to do stuff i want by myself.

I don't know what wrong with me, last night I tried joining a Discord group voice call for the first time, i dunno, everytime I tried to turn on my mic to speak I loose my voice, I ended up turning my mic on/off couple of times. Sheez I really Don't have the Courage, even though it's only 6 of us in the VC, but I still end up speaking after a very long time, cuz they're all forcing me, my voice keep on stumbling, after saying some words, I can't even join the conversation, I can't even say some words properly, I'm so nervous, feel like am having panic attacks so just turned off my mic and leave, I Feel really bad, my very first voice call, didn't end up well. I keep on crying, I can't be like this, I don't wanna be like this

People have always described me as quiet or shy. When I watched videos like this, I wasnt really sure if I actually had something or if I was just overreacting when I thought I had social anxiety.
Today I was at a camp with others my age and during lunch I was alone. I had this feeling of stress but I just overlooked it, thinking I was just sad that none of my friends wanted to sit next to me or something. Then suddenly, Im crying and having trouble breathing and I feel like everybody is looking at me which makes me feel even worse. It was really bad and I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. Im still working on it, and going into a new Junior High this fall isnt making it any better.

Having s. a. d makes me have breakdowns often, yes i was clinically diagnosed btw- ive had a teacher who's given us two presentations this year and both times everyone told me it wouldn't be bad but i was full on panicking. This teacher joined after our Christmas break as my old one retired(which sucked because she was one of the few I really trusted. She wanted me to read the instructions written on our paper once and i kept messing uo and looked towards the window at a tree(something that kept me calm) to prevent myself from crying. I also only have a few friends and i always seen people i thought would be cool to hang out with but y'know.

In 5th grade I handed a classmate a pen in class. They tried to take it normally, but I was fumbling around and forgot to let go. When they tried to take it again, I let go too soon and it fell on the floor. I remember wanting to go home right away. I felt like they were judging me. I remember going home and practiced handing a pen to myself. Then as I moved into middle school, I practiced how to drink from my water bottle, hand in my papers, sit in a chair, get stuff from my backpack. I felt like my every move is being judged. Im in high school now, and I still have that problem. Except now with the masks, its one less thing to worry about

Oh that hits the spot! Agree with all of the points you broutgh here, but in my own experience those problems arouses when you are alone against a moltitude. Clusters of people can be discouraging for their mood of being a pack like dogs or wolwes. This lessen their personal responsability. When you are a loner, all is up to you. It's unfair, at least if you don't break somebody's jaw. Generally speaking I noted that social awkwardess is stronger in situation where the weak subject is unpaired in number or physical strenght. Just give us the right to defend ourselves.

SAD and being among people is something like playing a role in theatre and being the only one without a script. Terrible feeling. Sometimes it's worse, sometimes better, depends on situation, my actual mood, intensity of stimuli and overal level of my attention to it. I know that I'm not a centre of the universe and no one watches only me but still, something embarrasing can happen to me and voila! The worst thing is that these thoughts can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Often it's even worse before an anticipated event when I'm alone with my dark scenarios, lol.
reply

That probably explains a lot of situations at school for me, why I cant walk into a classroom without being anxious or feeling as if everyone is looking at me when I get up to get something, why I stutter so much when talking to people, mainly teachers. When I get asked a question i physically cant answer as im panicking so much then after I cant focus for abt 10 mins or so, or I refuse to contribute to class.
I obviously thought that was normal for everyone for like 2 years, but it appears its not lol.

I have SAD, it sucks when yoy have this. It feels like you've been robbed from doing the things you should enjoy. Just recently I got hired in a company where I need to do marketing and endorse products. It's always a big challenge for me showing up not to mention you have to deal with your co-workers. I always cry every night, I sometimes wish the time would stop so I won't have to go to work for another day. And easiest way to solve it is to quit and walk away. I don't like this. please help me. I badly need one

1. You worry about every day activities No
2. Avoid, and worring about social activities Sometimes, depends on where I am going.
3. Blushing, sweating. It depends
4. Panic attacks No
5. Over whelming fear of being criticized Yes
6. Feel like you are being judged and watched by other people Yes
7. Expecting the worst case scenario Yes
So do I have social axinety or not? I think I may have a mild condition, also I always feel. Like. I don't want to talk to anyone, not even my therapist.

It's so hard having social anxiety. I often feel jealous because others have no problem interacting and making new friends. I'm even anxious when I talk to my parents, it's just so hard and I want to end this feeling immediately. I know the solution to this problem is facing the fear of talking and communicating but I don't know how will I start and how to do it. So please, to those who know people with this disorder, just respect and understand their situation because it's not easy at all.

I've been dealing with social anxiety for so many years, I wasn't doing well in school, I missed a lot of opportunities in my life. It almost ruined my life. my parents, especially my father was always judgmental and not supportive at all. Always make me feel like I'm a looser, he even said it quit few times. I do not wish that to my worse enemy. I'm still doing therapy and I'm on medication, things got better, I hope everyone be safe physically and mentally.

Me,
Extremely uncomfortable with being touched or looked at, panics irrational in public and thinks that random ppl are laughing at me and mocking me and me having operation and unreasonable panic attacks going back to a school that isn't as bad as my primary school and has quite a lot of nice ppl, can't make eye contact and has troublele communicating
Also me: therapy? Nahh
3: 32 hah hah definitely doesn't remind me of anyone heheh

reply

Don't let your social anxiety trick you and stop you from living life and finding happiness, just when i thought I was at my lowest and after so many years of being alone feeling hopeless i might never find love again but i did and than you just stop giving a shit about the anxiety. You gotta motivate yourself enough to go beyond your anxiety or find something or someone that'll make you selfless enough to overcome cause it is very self centered
reply

I relate to all of them except panic attacks! I always have trouble interacting with ppl, going outside, speaking in class, especially when the professor asks me to answer any question! Ive never raised my hand in the class, I always get anxious in a group of people and the last thing is that I can never make eye contact and ik how to reduce it but I simply can't focus on those remedies when my social anxiety comes! it's hard
reply

Help! I'm not an introvert, making conversations is not a difficult task for me. Plus I have some good communication skills but every day interactions causes anxiety, I'm constantly worried about being judged. I have this feeling whether my words hurts anyone. Feel like am not good enough. Is it social anxiety? No one would believe I'm struggling with this because I'm quite talkative outside.
reply

Im sure Im not the only one, but when social anxiety gets too much, you dont just have a panic attack, but legit vomiting, the body just cant take the stress anymore and vomiting is the only way to get the nausea to stop. Its a more gross side of social anxiety and not just the typical problems, not everyone who experiences probably doesnt admit it even if they relate because its embarrassing
reply

I think I have social anxiety disorder, I think body dysmorphia disorder and the neccesant worrying of my past mistakes, feeling low and bad about myself triggered it off and being really torn apart by a lecturer that I stopped enjoying my studies. I'm shy and scared of what people will think of me. I'm scared they will just tear me apart. Maybe its an inferiority complex instead?
reply

I love being home alone. When I do get brave and be around people, my body fights back by having night time panic attacks. I havent freaked out in public yet. I like doing food pick ups. I like shopping online. My husband is a extrovert and loves to be center of attention. He talks to strangers. I will get brave and talk to strangers too if they seem friendly.

There are some days it is so bad I want to die. So much life I feel like I missed out on because of it and I still struggle to talk to therapists because of it. I've never been diagnosed for it but my anxiety is almost always the worst in social settings, even with positive reinforced thinking it can still creep up on me
reply

imagine being beautiful with this disorder. talk about hating life. i intimate people with my looks but im socially anxious and dont talk cause the fear of judgement paralyzes me and im then judged for caring what others think and then called super insecure like i can even help it. i be so dissociated now a days
reply

For me, it's not enough t to have no friend. I also end up being jobless in years. I send job letter but then when it comes interview call I will have bottled it. For me it's impossible to catch up job standard while having this symptoms since it also causes me some kind of learning disabilty and trouble focus
reply

I remember I did a presentation a few months ago and it was not fun my face turned red I was sweating I couldn't breath properly. it really sucked I felt so embarrassed and I heard a few people laughing at me turning red my teacher told me I did great and it was ok I don't like presentations.

In my country people rarely talk about this so I figured out I have Social anxiety recently, when I started to watch a lot of english videos. I also learned that they/them can be used for 1 person only, I belive that dosent exist in my country. Well, thats all, sorry for the long comment
