Do you think youre smart? Maybe you think you always need to say the right things and chime in with the best advice in order to sound intelligent. But its not always about what you say, sometimes its about what you dont say. So, here are a few things smart people choose not to say in public. We also made a video about the phrases intelligent people would never say to others

Jedi Master Plo Koon definitely showed and practiced what Master Yoda meant. I think it was an episode of clone wars or a comic where Ahsoka Tano helped him with a case in the underworld of Curoscant and they were surrounded and heavily outnumbered by a gang. Master Plo Koon advised that they should run away and Ahsoka Tano, being the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker who never runs away from a fight, was mad that they ran away. Master Plo said Do or do not. There is no try with Ahsoka Tano telling Master Plo she never understood what that meant. Master Plo simplified it by saying They who know their limits are limitless. Again, Ahsoka didn't understand what that meant either! Master Plo ran away because he never saw this gang and didn't know how to fight them, but he did analyze their tactics and number while running away. So of course they ran into this gang again and Master Plo didn't run. Do or do not. There is no try. The first time Master Plo encountered the gang, he didn't know how to defeat them so he did not try. The second time he ran into them, there was no try, he destroyed them. They who know their limits are limitless. Just because you can't do something at the moment doesn't mean you can't do it in the future.

I usually don't say ne of that and was placed in special education in middle school for not being social. Also the sad oppression that resides in the small town im from as well. However I do stand by what master Yoda says. And it is a mandate I follow til this day. Also I found out that the education system is not so good in certain criteria especially when it comes to individuals with certain talents. Ironically I graduated high school as an outstanding graduate in social studies. As well as with a 3. 9 GPA and participated in all high school sports and joined the student council. So do or do not will always be a part of who I am and will be regardless of any obstacles in my life.

questions to ask yourself if you're feeling a lil dumb:
i'll try/can i approach this differently? (instead of brushing it off if it's too difficult)
it's not fair/what did i learn from this? (be grateful for the hardship)
i give up/what are my limits and did i truly give myself everything i needed to complete the task?
you look tired/how can i make them feel better?
it's not my fault/is who's right or wrong really what's most important right now? (letting your pride aside)
i can't/am i really incapable or do I just need a bit of help?
(correct me if you think im wrong for any of these, i just thought it would help)

Actually, I really dislike Yoda's quote here, to be honest.
It feels like You don't do or you succeed and, necessarily, failure is not an option here.
Even if it sounds like I'm not confident, if I'm not sure I'm perfectly able to do something, I feel like it's dishonest to promise a success. You can't know you'll succeed. The only thing you know is if you will try your best or not.
Plus failure is always a possibility and it's normal. Expecting to always succeed at doing the things we want is setting oneself for failure. It works sometimes, being perfectionist. It can hurt a lot when it doesn't.

reply

The only phrase here I use a lot is I'll try
I only say it when I'm almost certain I will fail, and only as a means to say to others to not expect perfection. I always do try, and usually succeed, however, so in my case it works. It gets me to actually try it, as opposed to being locked in a struggle of deciding whether I will try or not.
I used to use I cant a lot, but after realizing that a few years ago, I've started replacing it with I'll try
Why? Because whether you believe you can do something or not, you're right.

Another false video. Sorry Psych2Go but most of the things said in this video are false. People are unpredictable and different. A smart person can say these things. The words that come out of your might doesn't always determine your true intelligence and capacity of knowledge. Smart people can slip up too and make mistakes. That's the result of these words being said. And nothing is wrong about making mistakes. That doesn't make you dumb. This video is the definition of the Barnum effect.

i have never in my life told someone they look tired. i have genetic dark circles under my eyes and because of this ive lived my life with people pointing out how tired i look all the time. its made me very insecure and now i never take my glasses off or go out in public without concealer on. because of this, i make it a point to never comment negative things about someones appearance. since it affected me so much, of course doing the same to others will affect them

Isn't it smart not to promise anything bc I'd u say I will give you lunch money tomorrow
Then u will have to love up to that u seen as irresponsible and if you say I won't be able to give money now u rude n not a person to seek help from which then ppl wouldn't wanna help u but I'd you say
I'll try to give u money tomorrow now they not entirely aspecting u to bring the money

reply

I think I need help!
I'm in a emotionally abusive relationship. I'm really hurt right now and unintentionally I've pushed people who are close to me. I tried for therapy but I don't have enough money to go through that.
I'm feeling really low as if I don't have any self worth left inside of me. What can I do?

Hello, I love your videos so much. And I would like to ask permission, can I translate your videos into my native language? I'll also make sure to always include your links.
I would be happy to receive your answer)

If I say I'll do, then I will really do, I would sacrifice a lot when I make a promise. Sometimes I'm not willing to go that far for anyone and i have never cared enough about something to truthfully promise that much to do.
reply

I only say I'll try and I can't. I use I'll try when someone gives me an advice. And I use I can't when I tell someone I can't do it even though I forced myself (like waking up early or sleeping early cause I have DSPD)
reply

I work nights and most times regardless of how much sleep or little sleep I have, its the You look tired for the 1000th time. Its like thanks I work nights, my whole body is out of whack, and I hate social functions.
reply

It's not quite related to this.
It would be great if I could decide how long my comments can last, probably for a day, so I don't have to constantly worry about whether the comments are appropriate or not

reply

Yes i am! And when i heard yoda say it i was like wwhoow and well thats true what is definition of try? IDK. butt i know that if you are doing something you only want or do'nt want to do it and thats true
reply

What? These don't make sense, I'm just honest so it has no extra meaning behind it and I don't choose what to feel. And it's not my fault people assume shit. This must be some allistic thing.

I was reflecting whether I said anything like this in public recently and the one thing that video made me realize is that I haven't even been there for a long while now.
reply

You posted this at the perfect time. I've just gotten my maths results, and instead of crying, I've taken your tips and admitted it's my fault. I'll work harder next time.
reply

I use I give up a lot, but more in the sense of I give up for today or i give up for now, so I pause whatever I am doing and go take a rest to resume it sometime later.
reply

To be honest, I think most people can name more than six things smart people don't say in public.
Example: I have 2. 5 pounds of ccaine in my lunch box at a bank.

reply

Tbh most of those phrases have nothing to do with the intelligence of a person. The reason for the use of these phrases are mostly low self esteem or mental health.
reply

I normally say Ill try because of habit, and I do try the things- Its just its a habit, and their is ALWAYS a chance that I MIGHT be unable to do it-

reply

That is some hardcore attack. Ive said these so many times. I blame it on learning English at a second language. I dont know many phrases. Just kidding
reply

This is not really a list of thing SMART people dont say in public it's more like a list of things self-CONFIDENT people dont say in public
reply

Wow does this mean I'm smart? I've been doing what you listed smart people say, so yay for people like me that have already been doing this: D
