I dont think we ever really mean it when we call people smart. Its just a word. IMAO, we call people smart as you would call just any ol random stranger in your environment smart (e. g, a guy buying milk or a woman walking a dog, etc. I mean, I know a senior whos going to turn twenty this May, and hes graduating that month. Of course, he shouldve graduated two years ago, at 18, the proper age. He said he had a speech delay in preschool and some years of homeschooling, bringing him down to the eight grade when he returned to an actual school (age 15. He said he has ASD and a learning disability that limits and delays his general understanding. Cant tell you how many times he asked questions in classes or needed clarification. He was not good at biology or chemistry, and always need help in setting up the experiments for the former and had to take his own private, simpler assignments for the latter in Special Ed, because everything in our Chem class was too tough for him. Sure, he works very hard, but come on, hard work _alone_ does not make you bright. Hard work and _natural brain skills_ make you bright, together. Some students are smart but lazy, some are smart and hard working, and some are hard working butwell, thats exactly what this guy is, if you know what I mean. A few teachers who admired his hard working nature said he was very smart, and that is _precisely_ my point: we call anyone smart just for the heck of it, whether its true or not. This guy is one of the main reasons I do not believe smart is sincerely or correctly said when we use the word about certain people. Meet him, and you'll understand.

Thank u for this video! It helped me a lot! I've always thought I would only be smart by having good grades on my report card and undersimated myself. I always tend give myself many negitive comments and never apprieceated myself. I always think my sister is so much better than me. And I always think oh! This person is so good at this particular thing and I am just average but I never really thought of what I was good at! So thank you for telling me I'm not that bad. :) As well I always do push myself really hard because of some problems I have in life. I want to help my family so I thought if I were smart I can earn scholarships and help my mom. So I always pushed myself to do better so that I have more of that chance! So Thank You! A lot!

im not sure if this is related, but i do have a couple friends who are incredibly academically smart, but outside of that they're complete losers (affectionate) in the fact that they have absolutely no social or emotional intelligence. so i, the emotionally intelligent one, is the one who got them most of their friends somehow, and although im not good at talking to people or just making friends in general myself, im socially aware enough and have natural empathy so they just kinda kept coming and now i have a bunch of friends and stuff
this isnt me flexing my ability to have friends on anyone by the way, just felt like sharing because i thought it might relate to the video: )

I hate being self-aware. I can reflect back on my actions and see where my brain mess up do to being neurodivergent. I try to analyze these patterns to help me but it only goes so far. After all I'm not a mind-reader. Being in this era where most information is at your fingertips makes you realize the world's troubles more and more to just realize you'll probably never be able to do anything about it and it'll only get worse as they ignore it. We need unity but we are selfish creatures worried about our own gains instead of society as a whole.

I was at least a below average smart (so basically not smart? kidding, but when I stopped moving (e. g. my body) my brain kind of worsened. I used to read so fast, but now I can't even read a word without looking back at it twice. It's frustrating. And I always stumble upon my words, too, when I used to rap back then. I honestly don't know how I'd get all of those back again

I don't really consider myself as an Smart Student but since I have seen a lot of people that they were terrible at first, and then they became smart. I believe I still have hope coming for me.
Thanks Psych2go and Everyone else!

I have 5 or maybe all 6 of these but I know for a fact that I'm not smart. Sure I underestimate myself from time to time but I've compared myself multiple times to other people directly and I've always been dumber than anyone else

I'd say a most of these apply to me. I have a little doubt about my empathic abilities, though I might be being a little hard on myself.

I know I'm smart. Can relate to all except managing feelings and the last one, a smart person would know that they are smart.

I guess, my IQ is either pretty high or pretty low, because my social behaviours and partly my interests are weird.

Smartness isn't related to success neither success is related to smartness. And there are many kinds of smartness btw.

Yes, I saw a person get his organs cut out and since I'm such an empath, I knew it was hurting him a little
