How Canada Just Got a Land-Border With Denmark I am so lonely on my country i live in a country on Asia where the nearest country is 100 of miles away since I am on phillippines a country made out of thousands of island and have 3 major islands if you look at the world map the Philippines is just a country that isn-t connected to other country which means there-s no limit of restriction of land since everywhere on this country has no border that divides country I mean yes there-s this part of the Philippine that has a stick pointing on malaysia but the ocean is so big so I don-t need to worry about accidentally stepping on another country without even knowing I-m fine with that even tho I live in a lonely country I mean you can never know which island are you on the same country since malaysia and Indonesia blend with the islands of the Philippines if you look at the horizon looks okay even though that Philippines near by country are also made out of thousands of island to like Singapore, malaysia, Indonesia, Timor leste, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, the Koreans, Japan, and-. Yes those are the only countrys I know oh wait also Cambodia and maybe Laos?
Eh what ever I missed dosent mean I forgot them because they-re also near by Philippines

This was far from a FRIENDLY dispute. If it really was, either of these countries should have gladly given the island to the other. The fact that they settled it by splitting a tiny 1200 sq mtr island is the depiction of how unrelenting & cheap both the countries were. On the contrary India gave away 1 island to Srilanka (Katchatheevu Islands) & 1 island to Myanmar (Coco Islands) for free without bullying those 2 tiny nations. That's how big hearted countries behave.

Just off the coast of Newfoundland canada there is a collection of islands that are not part of the province. Indeed, they are not even Canada! The islands of -Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, France- are the last pieces of France territory in North America. First settled by the French in the early 17th century, the islands represent the sole remaining vestige of France's once vast North American colonies, and as of today remains as a -France collective territory-

LOL. This has nothing to do with the video that I just watched. I watched a number of your videos and I've noticed something kind of amusing. Whenever you use the word world, which is fairly often, you put a distinct emphasis on the word world. You don't really do it too much with anything else except that word. Still, the videos are entertaining and informative.

This island has been used by Canada's native people as a hunting ground for hundreds of years.
The explorer Inn has owned hunting rights from the Dene natives since the 70's, and has used this spot as a hunting sight during polar bear hunting season.
I have actually seen the sight during the 1980's. as an employee of the explorer inn

As a human being when ever i hear the word -owns this land- makes me feel sick, no one owes land we borough it from mother nature, we destroy it and we are the best in doing a mess out of it! We should feel ashamed, when mother nature will strike back that will be the end of us and we deserve it 100%!

I think that every year on the anniversary a representative from both nations should meet in the middle of the island with a bottle of their own country's liquor and exchange shots as a symbol for cooperation between the two nations. It would be a cool way to celebrate the day. -

Greenland shouldn't be in the hands of Denmark, it belongs to the people of Canada via the Mic Maq and Inuit peoples. It is their unceeded land. Colonization and ownership of the island is a war crime that still hasn't been recognized today.
reply

Lucky for Denmark they didn't leave their warship around for too long, or we would have had to call in our elite sniper force to take it down. and by that I mean sending a bunch of hockey players over to fire some pucks at it.

3: 15 -It doesn't really matter all that much- ermm. Canadian and American lobster fisherman literally take up arms against each other in pursuit of economic and agricultural territory. It escalated highly in the last decade.

As a veteran of the Hans Island war, I know this is just a ceasefire, not a resolution. The true Cold War, ready to go hot enough to melt the arctic circle. Drink your schnapps, boys and girls, this is far from over. -

Because Denmark owns Greenland and now there's enough ice sheet to connect Canada and Greenland there saved you about 13 pointless minutes giving you information you should already know if your Canadian or Danish
reply

Bill Graham should change his name to Richard Graham because he's a dick. At least we found a solution, everyone's happy and things didn't escalade after the Danes sent their fishing boat dressed as a warship -.

As a Canadian, knowing that Denmark is our friend, I say this -Welcome to North America- Our great nations are true neighbours since we share a land border. Hope to see you soon! You're welcomed here anytime

I think this also registers as the shortest land border between countries, and possibly the longest distance between capitals of land bordered countries.
Unless Greenland owns Hans island in the future.

This sort of makes me sad. I liked the weird back and forth. I think everyone did. But I guess as climate change puts the Arctic in global focus it needs to be worked out legally.
reply

The Canadian claim near Campabello makes far more sense than the American claim. There are other disputes along the border.
And Greenland should really just join Canada officially.

I like Denmark, and I think most people from Denmark like Canada. No need to fight over this tiny island. Love and respect to our friends across the ocean in Denmark.

I often wonder why our East coast provinces arent a MAJOR port for container ships and that would make our goods so much cheaper and save so much time shipping?
reply

As a Peruvian, I have nothing to do with this conflict and just came here to get informed about the subject and write this meaningless comment.
Thank you.

You Canadians are naive if you think it's -cute- and -sad- it took a long time to settle a border dispute. bunch of pushovers in this country. naive pushovers.
reply

Part of me wishes that each of the countries would send equally numbered representation to said island and it would be divided based on amount of alcohol drank
reply

How is the border going to be marked? Neon yellow stripe? ? Canadian flag painted on west side, Danish flag on east? They can share paint - same colors.
reply

wrong, it is greenland that have a landborder with canada, saying denmark have a border with canada would be as saying wales have a border with ireland
reply

seriously tho it's better to solve those things, you never ever know what plot twist is lurking around the corner. some rare minerals, military base, whatever
reply

Canada actually has an island that belons to France, St Pierre Miguelon. But i guess its not a -land border- unless the the island is split.
reply

the pain a brutality off the danes YOU GAVE THEM SNAPS. they will never stand a chance in danish easter lunch. little sad it's over.
reply

Why? It's a giant rock in the middle of the Arctic Ocean! It's literally useless! Just do a coin flip and the winner takes it! Ffs! Lol
reply

Also 7: 32, neither of those people were prime minister of Canada or Denmark in 2006.
Neither have ever been a Canadian prime minister.

reply

Honestly what they should have done was gone to the UN for a blind taste test and given it to whoever's liquor was better.
