The white orb felt like a plot convenience and the antagonists were too dehumanized, imo.
I think her badge would have been adequate to open the first door seeing as she was just promoted, but not enough to override the security lock-down outside the room.
The antagonists being faceless entities is a common way to put us on the side of the protagonist, but it’s hard to be invested in something you can’t understand. These guys just work for ANV, after all, so why do they all commit 300% to the job Do they have great benefits and good pay, or is everyone who works there deathly afraid of aliens My point is that it’s easy to make a villain we root against, but it’s hard to make one where we can see their point of view without agreeing with them.
The animation and visuals are super solid, though.

My short film ANV is a compilation of Storytelling ideas and Sci-fi concepts I've had in my head for years. It also was a way to explore single artist independent animation workflows.
Most of my animation career I've created short from commercial work. When I was coming up with the story and script I definitively made a huge effort to develop a longer narrative, this helped guide the visual approach for a very effective animation pipeline for a single artist.
ANV was created to have a nonstop engagement narrative style without compromising story beats and dramatic rhythm.
Even if you watch the film once, you will find more details on subsequent viewings.
Thanks to everyone that has already given me overwhelming amounts of support.

I tried to like this one, but it looks WAY too much like the ads for those annoying clickbait mobile games (Lily's Garden) with how the characters just make sighing noises instead of talking and all have oversized bobblehead features, and do weird things like the girl constantly grasping her chest like she's having a heart attack (everyone in those ads dies from weird random reasons so it fits I guess)

This was very well done I think the lack of dialogue helps you to concentrate more on what's going on I think sometimes dialogue complicates things because you're trying to listen to what the dialogue says and what it means and you may miss out on some animation that could be more meaningful. A lot of the time dialogue can add things that are not needed. actions speak louder than words sometimes

Great job with a lot of things. One crit is the pacing ( and some of the animation, like the axe hitting the window wasn’t convincingly fast enough to break it) is painfully slow. If things moved a faster clip overall I think this would be a banger. The one scene with the guy falling through an inter dimensional portal while alone nam kind of chilled was perfectly paced tho lol

Jeb, I was quite taken with your film! It's so rare to find someone who can tell a story that does not lean on language as a medium yet is as nuanced and profound as your clever and playful short. I would love to see it expanded to a longer runtime to discover what kinds of trouble your corporal and her alien counterpart get into. You've given us a great deal of food for thought!

I loved the animation, the right mix of silly kiddy toons and serious stuff goin' down! The fact that you tell a story with no dialogue is just awesome and speaks volumes about your animating skills and creative imagination. Thank you for this!

Wonderful to watch, engaging throughout. I like the story, but wanted 01 to come back changedbut that’s pretty naive. Left me wanting another episode. Brilliant use of fades and timing. Thanks!

My Stars what bizarre animation. Like little robots dolls. Maybe we will seem too real too, to them someday.
It makes me think that we know so very little about the different ways to have a conversation.

Is it my paranoia or is there a subtext of this naive & strong young girl going against the evil faceless patriarch that sees everything as a test subject Actually its not sub at all.

Superb. It's not often that I immediately send the link to friends let alone watch it again. I loved it the moment that I saw the little van. Hat's off. Thank you. More please.

Loved how the only humane characters are the girl and the alien dude. Everyone else is people in robot suits. Also the girl and alien dude are the only humble ones as well.

Lesson of the story: If you meet an alien for the first time, and you agree to start first contact by vivisecting it, then don't refuse to give your boss what you find.

Beside of the high technically level, i really felt the atmosphere and empathie for the characters. There is a kind of melancholia, i really love.
Very good work!

Too much dialogue. Couldn't follow the story with all the talking. Maybe have the characters take less so the viewer can follow what is actually going on

Absolute original masterpiece of animation. Loved every second of this. Very well made in every way. Thank you so much for making and sharing this great film!

Seems like this is only the start or introduction, is there more to the story The alien despite being a bit freaky didn't seem to cause any real harm.

. this was an awesome story with good characters and a great ending. I enjoyed this story with its animation and storyline. Thank you to all involved.

Thanks for the amazing video! I can't imagine all the work that must have been put into it. How long did it take it to be created

What a dynamically visually stunning video. I had a very stressful and exhausting day at work. This put me in a brighter mood.

I liked the movie, but the Characters speak an incomprehensible language all the time and there are no subtitles. It's inconvenient.
reply

I've to say thanks to the sound director who is it was, it made better job then many multimillion dollar movies from Hollywood
reply

That was brilliant, thanks. I'd love to see the continuing adventures of ANV the Alien. (I may have his/her name wrong.

One of the hardest things to do is to learn about one self. Both the light and the dark. And then turn it into a shade of grey.

Excellent film that perfectly showcases today's human mentality. No matter what, shoot first, THEN ask questions.
reply

Don't stop watching the video once the credits start rolling. There is a little something extra after them.
reply

. I liked it. Though I guess, that the creators played a lot with Playmobil figures in their childhood.
reply

Enjoyed this, but like so many Omeletos, it left me wishing I could find out what comes next!
reply

Really good. I like that no script makes you watch more closely for body language and details
reply

It always amazes me seeing secretaries type fast on their keyboard without looking at it.

Who are the characters Where were they Why were they there What was happening
