Umm, if a solar flare that great would hit Earth, there'd be no-one there at all, if it had the power to remove all vegetation and/or atmospheric water.
Also, if there'd be smart people there, they'd at least saved a couple trees, to replant after the effects would have subsided, and restart Earth's ecology.
If I were a smart government, I'd always have a reseed store on the planet, maybe under UN control, where all new spcies (or old, or maybe even already extinct) would be kept in a DNA repository, and that maybe in both DNA and magnetic storageoptical storage digital format for all species.
Call it a disaster library. Who knows maybe a space station, along with a copy of all knowledge of most technologies (since there's also no copyright in outer space nor patent rights)
The operating costs could be minimal, except for the new uploads that would have to be DNA sequence read first and then uploaded, but even so, that library would be maintainable at less than a billion per year, while the benefit would be worldwide and grandiose maybe some day.

Substandard narration, questionable science, poor audio quality, a far-too-long motorized unicycle sequence, poor visuals and less-than-great editing are just a few of the problems that make this short hard to watch despite the tried and true unlikely allies off to save the world trope. An A for effort, & potential, but Aftermath feels like a high school Intro to film-making project at best.
reply

It had some potential; reminiscent of Damnation Alley; but it goes nowhere, unfortunately. Dialgue was poor, e. g, bearded dude keeps calling other dude Sandman (what from Logan's Run) but then asks him his name. Bearded dude's acting sucked; Sandman's acting was actually good. Btw, monocycle is a very unstable vehicle to ride, probably darn near impossible. Just sayin'.

Excellent! Very creative. I thought the story was great. The first guy stumbled onto the other guy who had created stuff that would heal the world. Then bad guys took it. At the end they were on their way to get it back. I thought the unicycle was great, and jet powered. Lol. For a freakin 10 minute film, it had a lot. Thanks!

I have to dissent from the mainstream of the comments that I see. The key feature of a good work of short fiction is that it tells a self contained story while teasing a greater world. This is strictly a tease of a great world without the setup, action, payoff of a real story. It's a demo reel, not a short film.

How can any of you who suggest that this would be great as a full-length film be serious There was no real plot. It was literally unintelligible. You can't make a feature film out of this any more than you can make a diamond ring out of some old twine and sealing wax. Be serious for five minutes, yeah

Why is almost every episode shot black; you can't see a thing in those scenes, and it does nothing to tell the story. Not everyone is sitting in a black hole media center with a 16K Positronic Phase-induction Diode which can give 150% DCPI 3 Color! ; )

I'm losing faith in humanity reading comments here. How can anyone think this was actually good Are you all brain dead or are we in the beginning of Idiocracy and soon Dust will present Ow My Balls week and you people will swarm it with likes.
reply

Don't worry about it. The storyline is empty. The tone of the narrator gives it away from the very first syllable. Pure slacker. The kind of person who would not survive a bad haircut let alone a devastated planet.

3: 46 sold the product.
that was clever, and funny. is this the 'ice pirates' sequel i was looking for
i hope they have latex body suit robots. totally makes sense now about the 'prologue narration'.

reply

1: 00 voice actor did not sell product.
i am also a interested individual in EU cosmology.
that being said the sun IS your friend, but not the gentle kind. you will get spanked on occasion.

Great premise. Would love more.
Horrible unicycle design. You set off a jet on the top of the unicycle instead of lower down by the axle, and all you are going to do is faceplant.

reply

Wow, I don't know what to say about this one! O_O Interesting, and. yeah! I like the idea, and the music is neat because I don't often hear music like that in a sci-fi show!
reply

Okay, more dust s you don't understand oh, sure it was nice to look at special effects and all that, but I like to understand what I'm looking at
reply

Why is this film so dark I guess you’d rather be fashionable than actually have your audience see and follow your films.
reply

audio is too quiet for hearing impaired and no subtitles please fix would love to watch it but cannot hear it
reply

The coolest way around DNA coded weapons. Hey whats that. slap. works fine for me now lmfao
reply

Hmmmmm. these shorts are good but always leaves you hanging for more or at least a conclusion.
reply

Incredibly well made sci fi short, the quality is as good as movies costing millions.
reply

The first scene is a unicycle which makes everything unbelievable afterwards.
reply

Nuts. Like a barely scripted comix story boardgreat for esotericism’s other Alter ego.
reply

Follow the 10 commandments Christians and ask for forgiveness so you go to heaven
reply

Someone please design and build a functioning mono wheel. I get it sand man
reply

What's with the unicycle motorcycle they couldn't afford another wheel
reply

This time DUST made it to put a message in the shortmovie.
Hope you all got it

reply

THST NEEDS TO GO FULL LENGTH. COME ON! Any more that continues this
reply

Urgh. So many shorts need to be made into full movies. This is one!
reply

I agree. Excellently done! Definitely should make a feature film!
reply

So where are the subtitles Even auto-subs would be better than nothing.
reply

I would eat the worst parts of a goat, in exchange for that uni-cycle.
reply

Video is soo dark and hardly visible. i just could not see anything.
reply

Based on the comments, did everybody watch a different clip
reply

Terrible narration, get a pro and have it professionallly recorded.
reply

The voice in the intro, not making me want to go on watching
reply

Does anyone know the name of the track playing in the ending Thanks
