The Shaman by Marco Kalantari Connect with the Filmmakers: More About The Shaman: The dark year 2204, in a world that has seen 73 years of continuous war. Recently mankind re-discovered the arts of Shamanism. The Shaman’s school of thought believes that every person or object has a soul. During battle Shamans step over into the Netherworld to find and convert the souls of their enemies’ giant battle machines. This tactic enables a single man to overcome an invincibly seeming steel monster. This is the story of Joshua, a Shaman, who is sent on a mission to convert the soul of a giant battle colossus. He does not yet know that the soul is prepared for his coming and that the deadly psychological soul-to-soul confrontation in the Netherworld will be on eye level. The Shaman

This is a beautiful work of art. The story, even though it's just barely 16 minutes long, are crystal clear. I went from like what is this shaman thing, to what the hell can a (traditional) shaman do in future warfare, to finally ohhh so that's it! moments. Contrary to other comments here, I believe this need not full length feature adaption. This 16 minute film is a beautiful complete masterpiece by itself, no need to ruin it with shallow drama. Excellently done!

With every amazing short I watch, I notice people wanting more, more, more.
Be satisfied with what's offered, have you ever considered that less is best. these are great just as they are. we don't need more Hollywood crap. can't you all see that! we have all these amazing alternatives but your all to blinded by more. bigger, brighter, longer. to appreciate what you have right in front of you.
Ahhhh I'm waisting my words aren't I.

Impressively Entertaining Propaganda; Worthy of multiple views.
Historically it was the parents
who aborted/sacrificed their children. Motivation demonic cultivation and/or being heavily negatively psychically influenced by
by their own evil family.
To execute ones parents is
is also frequent for inherentance
of position/wealth.
All such Influences are
From The Lost and the Damned

Great cinematography. And the concept of trying to defeat a seemingly-unstoppable battle machine by manipulating its soul is indeed unique. The actors portray raw emotion well. However, this film is so bizarre, so much like a fevered-dream, that it is barely comprehensible. It seems like a lot of effort was put into mood and atmosphere, but not enough into a coherent story.

Simple but extremely powerful concept, Till we as beings can and do confront our demons and lift the shroud of amnesia and illusion of it all and take responsibility and make the truth known we shall be condemned to an eternal hell of our own making this material reality and be deprived of our true selves as Free Beings, Spirits, Entities, Etc.

Very awesomely awesome cool, and fantastically fantastic short film, I absolutely totally loved loved loved and enjoyed it,
Great job and well done.
I so definitely absolutely totally got a mega ton of inspiration for the novella series Mysteriarch Mythos That I’m writing book 1 for.

I sense some inspiration from sci fi animes like Neon Genesis Evangelion for example. :) Whether or not this is the case, this is a brilliantly produced piece of art! It was a joy to watch. The lead actor gave me Paul Bettany in Priest vibes but I love the concept of Shamans.

There's so much more to the story. That nibble you gave us WAS delicious and now I crave more.
I really enjoyed your glimpse into that bleak future and now I want to know how the story begins and ends.
You only showed us a few brief moments of the middle of the tale.

ya know. it's truly amazing how you can make such a short sci fi & at the same time make it feel like its longer &/or even better than the big movies. award winning work my friends bravo to you all I wish you the best of success & as always. more pleeez!

Brutal dark SF meets brutal dark fantasy. I am amazed and impressed. I would like more of this background, and what its (I hope) follow-ups will do. Great stuff, and if the authors don't mind, a great RPG background. Love and respect to the authors.

awfullly serious, and far too many inconsistenties or unrealistic projections. Just one example: 2323 they still use projectiles! miwing up spirituality with ancient belief systems (like instituational religions) horrible VOLUME settings.

I love how when the second time the shaman talk to the colossus she wore black and her tone shows a lot of doubt and doesn't project strength as the first encounter. I just love this whole fictional world I really need to see more of this

i watched ALL of Dust's shortfilms. For me, it is with no doubt absolutely the best! So many thanks for making this superb outsanding short film. i love it. watched it alreasy 3 times. Please make it into a full film.

Interesting concept but very disjointed. I think the music angle just strikes me as too goofy. I get that it's supposed to be some kind of link to the real world for the shaman so he doesn't get lost though.

This movie has very little to do with being a shaman. I mean sure, the movie is good for what it's worth but that's not how being a shaman works. In fact the movie has nothing to do with being a shaman at all.

I was recommended this short from my brother and I can see why. If this does not get extended into a feature film, I can definitely see a television run out of this little project. Something TNT would air.
reply

Pseudo deep. Sixteen minutes with no clear conclusion or point. Unintelligible end. Oh, the effects were good and mood was black. Maybe that's all it takes to seem brilliant and mysterious.
reply

I really wanted to give this a thumbs up. but wth happens, does the tower fall, ya but it's not clear or how the robot helped and. why Probably I'm thick, but just 1 minute. 30 seconds
reply

This almost makes me hate shorts. Such a cool universe and potential for epic stories and we only get to see 16 minutes of it! This has to be at least a movie if not much longer!
reply

This would make a great movie. It has the potential of being a great movie. Someone in Hollywood should pick it up. I have watched it several times. It never gets old!
reply

With all this GLORIOUS original content available by such talented writers, I can't help but wonder why we keep getting rehashed comic book stories from the 1950's.
reply

No woke crap here, with some skinny bird beating up all the guys. Thought-provoking and stylish, some of these Dust shows should be made into a series for TV.
reply

It's a shame that the miniseries format seems to be absolutely abandoned these days, because a story like this fits perfectly in a 3 or 4 one hour per episode series.
reply

the human became more machine -killing his parents, he cannot cry -the machine more human-did not want to die-. maybe they are both narcissists.
reply

It's OK I like how they jumped right into it
But with a storyline like this you need more time to have a feel of what's really going on, 7/10

reply

It's amazing. both for the concepts expressed, and for the visual realization. it really deserves a television series or a movie.
reply

Darkly addicting story. Would watch more of the Shaman’s conflicts. This is an original take that deeply engaged me.
reply

That was a brilliantly strange and strangely brilliant 16 minutes. 11/10 would watch more about this Shaman
reply

I greatly enjoyed the aesthetic and I want to watch this full length film. Highly imaginative and fresh.
reply

This was the most refreshingly orignal content that I have seen in a long time. A fantastic concept. Thanks.

Please don't hide the dislikes. It's the only way for us to estimate which video's are worth our time. Please.

As they are running toward the machine, I was thinking. I am one with the Force and the Force is with me.
reply

Brilliant, creative, clever, but most of all very original.
Makes Hollywood look second rate.

reply

Amazing! Awesome sound, action, acting, story, visuals, everything! How is this not in full production
reply

Too bad its not full length. Could have made for an interesting movie. or series maybe.
