10 Games With INSANELY Deep Mechanics JDOGGOKUSSJ2: As far as fighting games goes i think the one with the most deep mechanics go is an old PS1 game called Bushido blade
For starters doesn't matter what stage you select you can go to any other stage
when the match begins kinda making it open world if you and your opponent run to the left of the stage you'll end up in the next stage
and you can do that to each stage everyone is connected when we were young me and my nephew would just run around going through every stage
Then there's th combat unlike traditional fighters you don't have a health bar because in my opinion
its the most realistic fighter because depending on where your hit you can die its great you can have a back and fourth fight
that lasts multiple minutes or you can even defeat your opponent with one attack if you time your strike well
also you can attack limbs you cut your opponents arm it will show it on tour character if you cut their leg they will move very slow and be limping
on one knee i've never seen a fighting games that complex before even in modern times its crazy

Wait really? You showed SC2 in the intro but didn't actually list it what the hell?
Anyway, my 2 nominations are Final Fantasy 11 & the Armored Core series.
Yeah most people look at 11 and probably think it's basic AF compared to 14 but they'd be dead wrong. For a 21 year old PS2 game it has a crazy level of depth to the combat that's not immediately evident, and don't even get me started on how complex Gardening is.
And Armored Core just has a truly insane level of customization to it. It goes way past simply selecting different parts for your mech as you can finely tune individual pieces and come up with some pretty stunning paint jobs. My friends used to joke that I spent far more time tuning my Core than playing the games XD
EDIT: Oh and thanks for mentioning Slay the Spire. Love that game to pieces. I feel like Darkest Dungeon also belongs on this list however.

Star Traders Frontiers is a 2D single player game with very deep mechanics. The simulation connects most of these mechanics together. There are 9 different factions and while territory does not change hands, they are as duplicitous as anything found in Dune. You can work for Contacts in Conflicts, deal with rumors, there is a full economy with black market and even luxurious rare trade goods, dozens of ships to possibly buy and even carriers with smaller craft.
You don't just play as the captain but have to make choices for all of your crew as they grow and so much more.
The best part? It's a small game made by two brothers and there are even mobile versions for your smartphone. Highly recommended as it has given me years of enjoyment and with more than 300 free updates, its always getting better.

While I agree with Virtua Fighter being a very if not the most indepth fighting game, the statement about it's movelist is a joke. Tekken and DOA, plus other fighting games also have comparatively large movelists. The reality of those moves is simple, no player is actually going to use the vast majority of them and many of them in the eyes of players are just not via to begin with. Balance patches can and have drastically altered how many moves work which also plays a part in why some moves get abandoned. Virtua Fighter is a fighting game that is essentially the same as learning an actual martial art and then going to fight in a competition, it is a niche in itself because by its design, it isn't friendly to casual players.

Any game with drunk cats is worth playing! Also, regarding MSFS, there's a whole online network and community called VATSIM where people provide real time air traffic control to other people who are flying the aircraft. The VATSIM network's origins date back to the 1990s, well before MSFS came out. Its worldwide and there are pilots and controllers onling 24/7, though not necessarily in the places you may want to fly or control if you become an ATC. It amplifies the realism of flying a flight simulator exponentially. The canned ATC in MSFS or any of the other flight sims is rudimentary at best.

Scum has some insanely deep mechanics from having to keep track of your micronutrients to your vitamins and minerals to having to manually load bullets into magazines to stopping to pee and poo to having to manage your inventory assuming you lived long enough to find a decent backpack and find a vehicle which you'll have to find fuel for or a toolbox if it's damaged or a battery if it's battery is too low to start. If it wasn't for the zombies everywhere and the mechs guarding abandoned military areas this game would be pretty realistic

I've been playing Ghost of Tsushima lately and I've spent more time doing all of the side missions and I got around to finishing Yuriko's story and it was one of, if not the most intriguing and heartfelt side missions I've ever played.
I'd love to see you guys put it into a category related to side missions that were better than main missions
or something along those lines.

I feel obligated to toot the horn of Anton and his wonderful firearms simulator, Hotdogs horseshoes and hand grenades, or H3VR, which has the most accurate, deep understanding and control of all possible mechanics of firearms controls and accessories, and just sheer dedication to accuracy that is unrivalled in gaming. That and shooting at giant talking, armed hotdogs.

I like Kingdom Come: Deliverance's depth. When you steal something in a village, it makes a huge difference whether it's an apple or the sword of some lord. People might recognise the sword even in other nearby villages whereas you could sell the apple in the same village. Also guards might look for the thief and frisk you. It's incredibly immersive.

I need to say it, a clip and a magazine are completely different. Magazines are expensive and reusable and clips are cheap and disposable. A good example is WWII shooters have their rifles reload with stripper clips. When you reload 5 bullets on a thin strip of metal is lined up and pushed in. Then that little piece is thrown over the shoulder.

Virtua fighter?
That series is still relevant for this list? Tekken 7 would fit there aswell. It is also 3D and has 100+( hundred or more) moves per character. And it has more than double the character roster size than virtua fighter. Meaning: more moves, more matchups, more mechanics, more depth.

Mount and Blade: Bannerlord. there is so much to the game. The system of learning how to smith things, the character development, the kingdoms and the politics of it. the economy and where to place your workshops to maximize income. also the number of different ways you can go about winning the game.

There are some games that, although the entire game isn't that complex, they have a specific mechanic used in it that is incredibly complex. A prime example of this is the Fusion System from the Shin Megami Tensei games, and the Persona sub-franchise adds additional effects from the Social Links.

Warframe could have been on this list too. On the surface it may just look like a looter mmo, but as u put more and more hours in, u start to realize how deep the game is. The modding system, The eidolon hunts, liches, railjack and many many more aspects makes it a very complex game
