20 TERRIBLE Video Game Dialogues That Made Us Laugh CriticalState: When I played Final Fantasy X last summer, I got to the laugh scene and it wasn't out of place at all. I guess the entire cutscene really softens the blow of how awkward Tidus' laugh is, but that laugh desperately needs context.
Also, the Mega Man voice actor from 8, Ruth Jarman, has done a few interviews about the scripts they got and what a mess they were. Apparently Dr. Light's VA Jack Evans had only seen the script once, and then did the recording, and wasn't able to do another take. This also applies to X4, as they were dubbed around the same time.

Speaking as someone who likes Forspoken, had a lot of fun with it & is looking forward to the DLC.
The people of Cipal are so undeveloped, with the only exceptions being Robian & Auden.
And Pilo is the worst of them, not only is this guy terribly written, his voice actor is also. not very good, this could be someone they just picked up on the street.
BUUUUT!
Once you reach the third Tanta, Tanta Olas and Cuff (Frey's talking bracelet) reveals himself to be a demon eager to destroy Athia & Frey's Mother, Tanta Cinta, the best character in the entire game enters the scene, it gets a lot better in my opinion.
My Advice: Ignore all Cipal Side Quests except for Auden's & just go through the main Story, then do the Epilogue Quest 'Lost Lullabies'
That was beautiful, i actually shed a few tears there, ngl.

Honestly, I don't know like 85% of these games so fair to say this that I don't count these as Iconic?
But if I were to recommend one that I personally love and will never forget, Its Assassin's Creed II where you finally go to meet Ezio's uncle for the first time and he shouts ITSA ME MARIO!
I laughed hard for this one just for the fact that I was completely caught off guard with it, and who does not like a nice Mario reference

Most of these are mistranslation or direct translation issues from Japanese. I mean even new games have these issues. The other is people adding language that does not exist in Japanese to westernize the characters. If you study Japanese you realize how terrible people are at their Job when comes to localization although I imagine at least part of it has to due with the low pay.

5: 20.
Really need to have a game where the main character says 'back of the net! ', 'cashback', kiss my face' and 'butter my arse '
As for 'Forspoken': that sort of dialogue fits OK in games like 'life is strange' and the like, just seems odd in an action fantasy setting.
To quote Monty Python: 'what a straaaange person'

Idk why people always refer to the FFX Tidus laugh as cringeworthy or awkward. I think it's spot on. It's supposed to be like that because it is forced and fake. That's why Yuna said that he should stop laughing because of how silly he sounds. It's been 22 years and still taken out of context. It's not terrible.

My favorite line is from the ps1 version of dragon quest 7, where the party encounters female spirit/goddess/something and ashe gets angry at her flirting behavior and straight up calls her a sl&t. After all those puff puff jokes.
Second is MGS2 and Snake pointing to his bandana and says Infinite Ammo.

In the ending cutscene of Viewtiful Joe, Silvia says to Captain Blue 'You could've abandoned your ideals and ended up disillusioned and hollow like an empty shell' and its staged like this big emotional moment, but I've never been able to take it seriously, even when I was kid.

For the Atomic Heart Crispy Critters quote I'm 99% sure that's supposed to be a Beavis and Butt-Head Easter egg because in on episode Beavis burned his ass and when a hospital nurse saw it he said and I quote Can we get a stretcher over here? We've got a pair of crispy critters

The Laugh in FF10 is c9nststnyl cited as bad voice acting, but to me, that's just straight up wrong. It's just as awkward and uncomfortable in its native Japanese. That is literally. the point of the scene, he's forcing himself to laugh. Forced laugh sounds forced, 10/10.

You telling me you've done the list of silliest lines in computer games of 20 items, but didn't even mention the famous one from Red Alert, One place that hasn't been corrupted by capitalism, let alone put it in the first place?
Are you even serious, gameranx?

FYI, Crispy Critter was first coined by US combat nurses during the Vietnam war to describe burn victims. There was a lot of incendiary devices and substances used during that war, resulting in a constant stream of 'crispy critters' coming in to the field hospitals.

99% of these are because Japanese developers DGAF! about localization outside of Japan. Its like they gave the script to an intern who lied about being fluent in English just to get the job and they want her to translate the entire thing.

One of my favorite hilarious lines and deliveries that wasn t in the list was from Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 when Tim Currys character says, I m escaping, to the one place that hasn t been corrupted by capitalism. SPACE!
