10 Unrealistic Things We LOVE IN VIDEO GAMES Hona: I think I'd really like a game where there is no fast travel, real physical objects no inventory slots, and charcters take weeks to heal and no mercy invulnerability.
It would be cool, like traveling would be dangerous like you need to use like a cart or wagon and if it burned you'd lose all your stuff. And leveling up to get faster types of travel would be so cool. Like super fast magic horse or something, or even a bag of holding at some point. And the game would be more about evasion cause. getting hit. could end you for weeks or forever. So it would be a real fast dodge based game. I like it. Why not?

this one goes along with the convinent power ups one i suppose but another one thats totaly unrealistic but something we love is enemies conviently scaling to us, in some games its scripted and the enemies get stronger as the game progreses in others its tied to our own level and dynamic, others still a bit of both, but whatever the reason the fact that somehow we always seem to be fighting rats and bugs in the first area. never anything stronger, even when it would have made 'sense' for there to be stronger things (the first elder scrolls game. we were put in that prison to keep us from interupting yagar tharn's plot, for someone that had planed things out so carefully he sure didn't think to have very strong gaurds watching our cell.

Mini maps.
Or really any current locations on maps in games that are set in worlds without GPS. It makes zero sense why in games like Skyrim the character knows the exact location of their current position on a humongous map. Now add mini maps which show the location of enemies near by and I'm beginning to wonder if it's just a requirement to be a video game protagonist to be able to have this sixth sense.

When playing the Uncharted games, I came up with a head cannon for why you can be dying, but then step away and recover fully in a second or 2: You're not actually getting hit by the bullets, it's just a countdown to inevitably getting shot (& killed) by being in the line of fire so long (a risk meter if you will, then when you hide, there's zero risk and so the warning goes away.

Puzzles? Puzzles are vital to everyday life. Imagine the aircraft mechanic troubleshooting the flight control system. The electrician trying to figure out why a breaker box installed by someone else isn't doing what it is supposed to be doing. The everyday person driving down the road wanting to figure out how to get around or away from major traffic jams. People are solving puzzles daily.

Doomguy's arsenal is, in later games, directly attached to the Doom Suit. In the brief early stages, all you have are your fists until you find the security suit. Same with ammo, its all in subspace, attached to the super suit. To achieve this miracle of science, you just need play with the energy given off by the gates of hell. just a minor risk there. whats the worst that could happen?

NOTHING at all about unrealistic pathways conveniently opening up exactly where you need them to? Talking about how most games have this door or wall that can only be opened by another object needing to be broken right next to it. I remember in God of War how you had to knock down this tree to get across this gap. Just so happens the tree falls EXACTLY where you needed it to LOL.

I love the mechanic that allows you to just walk over consumables like ammo and health to pick them up. No need to even crouch or bend over, nope those items just magically teleport from the ground to your pocket or, even better, get consumed the moment you get close. Bonus points for when this happens in a player-controlled vehicle, like the runner in Borderlands.

So Falcon. When I was in MCT (Marine Combat Training) I gave my Buddy a Back massage one day, because he was hurting bad. Anyway, afterwards the word spread rapidly. And every night there was a line of Marines just waiting for my Magic Fingers to Dance All over their Bodies. So Yeah, Nailed it with the Military Acceptance lmao.

I have 2 ways to justify carry capacity. If you've ever seen the Sword in the Stone, How else would you get all this stuff into one suitcase, I'd like to know? Or, Dr. Strange and his ability to materialize objects from thin air. So, see? You may now enjoy your submersion into your game of choice! You're welcome!

Number 6 is actually kinda real. On the battlefield, armies scare resourcers here and there, because you can't just take 1000 bullets with you. So, you make outposts/resource dumps with ammo or something.
In other words. It's actually pretty realistic to these those medpack and ammo packs lying around.

Invincibility frames and mercy invincibility may be unrealistic, but they're needed to balance out the fact that enemy attack patterns are also unrealistic. Swinging around/throwing large weapons incredibly quickly and constantly without getting winded? You have to conserve your energy for a long fight.

Yeah. ol Falcon a. k. a. LT. Obvious is NOT telling the many of you who are mystified by the Jedi mind trick, that in order to make make money selling a game for the multitudes, you don't want to frustrate the player too much with frustrating things like REALITY. or the game won't sell.

The Doom clip made me think of a good one - You can pick things up with your feet! You don't have to stop or even slow down to collect an item or bend over and grab it, instead you can just keep trundling along sucking up health and ammo through your butthole like an oversized Roomba.

I've always thought the enemy's in stealth games actually do have a strong survival instinct that leads them to think I know I heard something but the last 20 people to investigate a noise disappeared or were found dead so I'm going to pretend I heard nothing and continue my patrol

Having a Look what you missed out on option in fast-travel would be awesome. Whenever the character fast-travels, their companion should say Hey, that trip was EPIC! We saw so many interesting things! Why didn't you pick up that big old chest of treasure, anyway?

Another unrealistic thing in games, specifically shooters, is when you reload a 30 round mag with only 1 bullet missing and it only removes 1 bullet from your reserves. Your character absolutely just tossed 29 bullets on the ground but powers that be say otherwise

Love me some fast travel. Try being a gamer with a family to take care of. Just get me to the next mission point like NOW. before I have another at home 'fire drill' to take care of'. I have 20 spare minutes. just get me to the next story point. Thanks _

I don t know what s you re talking about on No. 5
I love that on cyberpunk, I can play a male character wearing booty shorts, knee boots, crop top long sleeved jacket and a military helmet with an oni mask that all have different colors and don t match

reply

I dont think Fast Travel should be #1 at all, because its exactly as you said, it simulates someone traveling. Who tf wants to actually run back and forth all day long, that would make 40 hour games 80 hours. Falcon isnt the brightest huh?
