As a young teen when playing Ocarina of Time, when Gannondorf is defeated than transformed into true form Gannon. All you can see was this giant towering monstrous shadowy form and his glowing eyes. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I don't think I could pick my jaw off the floor throughout the entire ending. As limited as the N64 was The lighting and the environment coupled with the music was pure art. Sure it seems primitive by today's standards but there was nothing even close to that moment at that time.

#9 Made me laugh the amount of hate God of War 2018 received before the game launched because the Blades of Chaos wasn't going to be Kratos' weapon but an axe and then even a month after I see people that have beaten the game saying it sucked because the Blades of Chaos weren't in the game. At least if you're going to be an Xbox troll and trying to shit on a game do it with some research before you continue looking like a fool.

No game has cultivated genuine, raw, and unhinged true emotion and dispair that TLOU2 has. Words cannot explain how amazingly written the game is. Those who hate can't even come up with a good reason for why the writing is lazy. They just say it is. If any1 wants to ask me for my reason then go ahead, im just not putting it in this 1 comment. (so you can't say that I don't have a reason, becuz i do)

-Ending and welcome to ravenholm in half life 2 were surreal.
-its Raya lucaria in elden ring for me
-figuring out and executing the ending to the outer wilds had me speechless the entire time, what a mind fck
-frozen solid waiting for the tram in alien isolation
-the ending to little nightmares
-boarding the alien ship in crisis
Love these moments in games

Moments that left me speechless were the whole maze level in control that was epic, meeting the the world serpent in god of war and the blades, uncharted 2 the train mission, uncharted 4 the car chase scene to get to sam, the opening scene to far cry 5, what happened to Joel in in last of us part 2 and fighting Abby as well there's a lot more but can't think of them

The first 10 minutes of Ori and the Blind Forest was pretty shocking in a good way, but I have to mention a new one called Viewfinder. Now that game is a mindblower! It's a Portal-like puzzle game, where you can place photographs into the environment, making them 3D. The demo was constantly making me smile, but the full version is even better. You should check it out!

if we are going by recent game for me it's gotta be the Stonehenge defensive mission in Ace Combat 7. Like I wouldn't thought I would see that rail gun complex again in the mian series and to now be the one defending it as well!
The soundtrack for the mission even use the same music motif from the mission 20 years ago.

For me, the biggest jaw dropping moment from recent video game, it would be unlocking The Ghost Stance in Ghost of Tsuchima.
Defending Yarikawa, to the duel and then the decapitation. with the music!
It felt at that moment that Jin Sakai did justice to the legend of the Ghost.
Incredible moment from an incredible game!

Literally still get chills watching kratos pick up those blades. Knowing everything he went thru. Knowing he tried to get rid of them for years and threw them in the ocean and they d still pop up on his arm when he awoke burning him. All the weight and pain those weapons carry with them. The best scene in the game fr.

To be fair if you hop in TOTK you are gonna have yor time wasted. Amazing concept I played for 200 hrs. Really tho 170 of those hrs were kinda rough the last 100 Really was just frustrating ant that ending as cool as it is with the direction issues it kinda rubbed me wrong. I'm in the minority but im ngl

For me the only moment when a game made me speechless was opening of MGSVTPP and after op seeing that for the 1st time it is fully open world, cilmate condition changes and not to mention other details and easter eggs. Man I wish there would be a sequel in which story finally reaches climax.

I ll never forget how awestruck I was the first time I exited Vault 101 in Fallout 3. As your eyes adjust to the light, you are greeted with this huge post-apocalyptic world to explore, and the effect is still as great today as it was the first time I experienced it back in 2008.

Another thing that blew me away was in Kingdom Come Deliverance during quests where you need to find out something about a village you can literally ask EVERY single NPC in the village and everyone will give you a slightly different answer. Never seen that before in any other game.

Id argue that when the credits roll on dragon quest 11. You spent atleast 60 hours, likely more, getting to this point. Only for EVERYTHING to get turned on it's head and boom, 30+ hours more of the game and essentially a new story. One of the best JRPGs of all time.

Tractor beams in Star Citizen does something like #10. Star Citizen going from your ship to a planet with no cut scenes and just the size of the planets or a ship loading into another ship with no cut scenes or just looking at the game at 4k is not worthy of your list?

For me the most jaw dropping moment in recent games is when I first played Viewfinder, the game is a state of the art piece of incredible tech that works on player's perspective and create limitless possibilities ony thing that is limited is your imagination

One moment that shocked me was in Life Is Strange when Max saw Chloe get shot. That was right at the beginning of the game and right then, I realized that I was going to be in for a ride I had never experienced in any game I had ever played before.

For me, Red Dead Redemption 2, finding out that Arthur has Tuberculosis.
When I first played it and that moment dropped, I paused my game and just sat there for, what felt like hours, in silence just processing what I had just been told.

Should have specified in the title that this is specifically about game mechanics because I came in expecting story moments and there just weren't any of those except for Elden Ring. I guess Prey could qualify because it combines both but still.
