This may be such a situation the studio may hold the license to create Kong games, and needed to shovel something out of a minimum viable quality to keep the license. Those licenses often aren t cheap, and you don t get your money back when you lose them due to non-use.

Gollum had an actual objective to it, just executed really really REALLY poorly. Skull Island: Rise of Kong had virtually nothing. You're thrown into a world where objective is be monke, smash crab dinosaur. For 4 hours. Then the game is over. Maybe if it was Dynasty Warriors with King Kong, then maybe it'd have a point.
I don't think it visually looks as bad as everyone says it is, the graphical consistency is at least better than Gollum. It feels like they tried to make borderlands graphics, but didn't know how. I will say that Gollum had way better environments. That's a problem, considering Gollum's environments were. Gollum's environments.

7: 42 for a second I though you were recomending the game here glad you where just talking about running through the enemies. Yeah it sucks games of today coming out like this, what I say is. if you wanna make simpler games who take less time but still are good, just get back into doing old games for old consoles, 3d games from the ps1 era to the ps3, and 2d from nes to super nintendo, why not sell new improved compacted consoles with extras and sell them at a cheap price + easier to make games for old consoles and make them fast for a cheaper price, quantity with sales and happy gamers I say.

This is why so many developers aren't willing to experiment. They were clearly going for a particular style and many people just didn't like it. That's fine, but then they call it the worst game because they don't like the style and it's overpriced. Neither of which actually qualifies it for such a designation. Yeah, it should be 20 or less, but something being overpriced doesn't make it bad.

i don t get why anyone would buy a game without waiting for a few reviews it ain t the 90s anymore. I got got a few times growing up and 50 back when I was 9 yrs old was like 25 hours of extra chores and yardwork i remember pretending to like the games for awhile so my brothers wouldn t clown me for wasting my money except I couldn t even pass level 1 on Sub Zero Anthologies.

I gave this style video a try but honestly, ripping one game apart for 15 minutes just isntal as entertaining. It would've been cool to see a more traditional style top 5 or 10 list, but this just feels like you bought a game you're butt hurt about and used the gameranxs company platform to rant on and on about it to make you feel better about losing your cash.

I don't think they did make money off the game. Kong isn't a recognized IP to children, so they can't sell the game to ignorant children, they can't sell the game to gamers because they read reviews and can get refunds, and there aren't enough super fans who would buy crap, it barely uses the lore or anything. It just a gorilla that beats up dinosaurs.

Honestly, I was going to say that this garbage should be borderline illegal, but no, people should just show restraint when buying ANYTHING. Just wait a bit for reviews, the game is only likely to get better and cheaper from the release date. Just don t pre-order anything at all and be a responsible customer.

We really need new game mechanics instead of just shoot or stab, loot, and have NPCs ride your d and tell you how awesome you are.
I loved in Witcher3 where you'd be hated and spit on. I just don't like a ton of unnecessary praise. Finishing Cyberpunk has made me long for fuller games

I feel bad for the devs because they may have just been given a undoable deadline and the devs always seem to be blamed and never really the rich ceos or managers that make these decsions in the first place. Sometimes the devs are to blame but shouldnt get the majority of it.

Is it just me or does Falcon sound kind of hot when he s angry? Seriously though I don t think out of all the videos I ve watched that he s narrated that I ve ever heard him sound quite so angry and disgusted about a game. Will most definitely Never play.

Since this is an industry fueled by greed, it s now common practice to remove content and sell it to you again as DLC. However, if they removed anything else from this game there d be nothing left. That s my theory why the DLC for this game is so bad.

LIES! Nothing compares to spectacular hilarity of Gollum. We were all waiting for like 2 years knowing it was going to be terrible, and still had our expectations shattered. Gollum is the (worst) GOTY and you can't take that away from precious.

I m tryin not to be harsh on these guys cuz the ONLY scenario that makes sense to me that this was made to be a mobile game, these guys struck big somewhat, and shot for the stars by releasing it for consoles at 40 dream big, but cmon

It has been actually a very quiet year for gaming to be honest. There have been many better years. In fact this year's games - by total quality ones - has been poor. I only played around 3. But quality over quantity as they say

What I find funny is that while you play as King Kong, the show of scale in the game sucks so much that he looks like he's no larger then a regular person in most cases. (Unless he's supposed to be that small)

Did they license Kong or is it public domain, because this looks like an imitation of the Universal Studios stuff without actually being the Universal Studios version of the King Kong character.

What's funny is that the 2005 tie-in game for that King Kong is actually pretty damn good, one of my favorites.
Plus it had every nearly actor from the film in it and they all were pretty good.

I half expected to hear the old donkey Kong country (SNES) music playing in the background with these graphics, but now that I ve watched a bit further into it I see it s actually closer to N64.
