My big take; game company higher ups learned from the WatchDogs controversy. they learned that with the proper amount of backpeddling and just enough, literally, just the exact amount needed to appease just enough people and POOF everything will smooth over and everyone will forget how mad they were and it will all turn into nothing. The big companys learned that they can just blame everything on the devs, consumers, time crunch, money, anything they want really and we'll just go well, ok, but, you still screwed up, but, we'll let it go this time. And this time. Oh yah, and this time. Oh. And this one. Too. Ughhh, send em on hoping for a no mans sky return to glory. And then you have the sepect few scammers dressed as indie devs that treat it as; If you manipulate the numbers, then the lie will sell itself. I'm not saying the whole system is tainted but it's not going to get any better since emvracer group, tencent, game mill, etc. The only place where gaming can now be saved is PC and that really sucks.
(Yes, this is pourly structured and I left a lot out, I was writtong out of passion and anger so it came out as the word diarrhea it is, sorry

Maybe I'm just being too nice here but I'm leaning towards The Day Before as being a case where the devs were just way too ambitious and simply weren't able to create what they had hoped to create. Sure they should have simply been honest about their shortcomings but that's easy to say in hindsight.
On the other side of the coin to me is Star Citizen. It's the only time I've ever gone the kickstarter route and thank goodness I went for the minimum. It's vapourware and they have no excuses left. From the outside at least, it seems like they've spent 90% of their MASSIVE amounts of money on trying to get more money by promising yet another in the VERY long list of new and exciting ships. for an extra fee. It would be lovely if they stopped trying to get more money by making more vanity ships and actually worked on finishing that hot mess.

I find it interesting that the game at number 9 showed Norman Reedus in it which is where the rumors probably popped up regarding the developer. Also, during the video, there was a static-y advertisement for a game that looked so bad, I just skipped it so I don't know what it is, but it probably will end up on of your future lists if it isn't already on your list.

The day before really needs to be used as the focus on a study of how easy it is to generate hype based off very little and how easy it is to manipulate that so that maybe gamers will learn that most of the hype about a product is on them for allowing themselves to be swept up and refusing to see the warning signs.

I bought into a Kickstarter for a game called That Which Sleeps, basically Civilization but you have to awaken Cthulhu rather than build up your nation. Really cool idea, I figured it was worth a 10 dollar preorder. The dev took 85k and ran after people started noticing that his updates were all the exact same thing.

I remember going into a Gamestop before the first Fable released, and the clerk was going on about how it would be such a realistic rpg to where you could catch cold if you slept outside. The hype was wild. Granted I AM one of those people who does love the whole series, but yeah what we got was not what was hyped up.

The likes on this video prove we want a video on jake and falcon's. 1. Favorite shildhood gaming memory. 2. Their favorite game. 3. Their least favorite game. 4. The game they're most excited for. 5. The game they always go back to to play for fun. If each answer the 5 questions thats a list of 10.

Hottake: any game riddled with microtransactions are scams.
Argument to back this claim: They put the code for items in the game, but convince you they're upgrades and charge you even more money after you spent 60-70 bucks on their game in the first place.

For number 8, I'm pretty sure that steam will give you a refund even if you go past the 2h mark. Actually, just like in the case of Days Gone, they will most likely give an automatic refund to everyone who bought it and will remove the game from the store.

Not gonna lie. Been going through a lot of hardship lately, but these Gameranx videos have been making things better. Jake provides that more emotional/sentimental critique while Falcon comes with the comedy.
Just love it

So this list will includeevery single early access game ever right Also that one space game that’s been developed for what. over 20 years now and is still not really worked on at all With the literal ship NFTs
reply

Ashes of creation needs added to the list. they want $120 to play test their beta and you do not get the full game at all with it. when beta is done you have to pay for the game on top of the $120 ya just spent.

I mean the day before was promised to really just be a zombie division with more survival aspects which is why I wanted it lol maybe someone can actually make something like that, that’d be awesome

Speaking of The Day Before. Once Human is pretty much what The Day Before wanted to be (minus extraction shooter, but Once Humans Seasonal System with Resets is plainly ruining it.
reply

i still can't forget the Abandoned. the person behind it trying so hard to use every piece information from Konami and Kojima social media, rather than developing an actual game
reply

please make a video about games that are quite certainly will never see the light of day.
two examples from me are: The Last Night and probably Delver's Drop.

I wish making games was easier I would love to make one, even just something small but everytime I try to sit down and learn coding I end up losing interest.
reply

missed opportunity for the game Identity, i think it also took more than a million dollars and just stopped giving updates on the development of the game.
reply

Star Citizen that preys on suckers.
12 years in development well over a billion, has Titles dependent on how much was donated with the highest at $25K.

reply

Before i watch this STAR CITIZEN BETTER BE ON THIS LIST! WE really need a lawsuit against them. Edit Thumbs down for not mentioning the most obvious one!
