I love nokia n-gage a lot. yeah the first model has their sd card behind the battery, but later model actually improved that by having the sd card slot on the side of the phone which you can access without even opening the back cover (and not being taco anymore.
It is THE gaming handheld during their time. you can bring it to school and play with friends. at first, I used the game sd card, but later I bought sd card myself and dump all of the games there. including gbc emulator which I usually use to run pokemon crystal and beat it like 20-30 times there are quite few great games there, such as the sims, puzzle bobble, elder scrolls shadowkey, sonic N, worms, rayman 3, etc
the most fun thing that I did me and my friends did PVP with bluetooth! up to 4 people PVP in bomberman like game. we spent hours playing that game in the school lol. I missed that time

Agree with all EXCEPT 3DO. It didn’t fit with the rest. It was mildly successful, especially in Japan. It was in the same niche as NeoGeo or Jaguar. Lots of games eventually found their way to other systems, but originated on 3DO. Also, 3DO had some of the earliest Naughty Dog games. What ultimately killed it was console manufacturers saw little to no profit, and signed on to the upcoming DVD technology. 3DO tried to compete with their M2 upgrade but couldn’t get the technology to market and it fizzled out. Good games on 3DO include Gex, samurai showdown, way of the warrior, madden, Sherlock Holmes, Jurassic park, super street fighter, crash and burn, sailor moon fighter, doom, road rash, need for speed, space hulk, and a few more.

I remember playing the 3DO at the NEX as a kid in Hawaii and wanting one so badly.
Also, I actually do remember the Highlander animated series because I saw it as a kid before ever seeing the movies, so I was confused when they weren't some post-apocalyptic sci-fi / medieval fever dream. I was familiar with Quentin MacLeod before Connor or Duncan. It was part of the same programming block as the Mortal Kombat animated series on USA for a brief time in the mid-90s, back when USA still had animated action shows targeted at the kid demographic.

CAUTION: Red and blue 3-D glasses can permanently damage/altar your vision if worn for too long.
Using my Rad Racer (NES) glasses to read a Batman 3-D graphic novel, I found the last page had a pair of cardboard glasses you could punch out. It also had a warning to not ware them for more than fifteen minutes. I’d been wearing mine for two hours.
To this day I can close one eye and everything will look artificially reddish and rosie, while if I close the other, everything turns dull blue and dreary.

I'd like to add the On Live console. The first effort in game streaming. The console was actually very clever in that you would have a 'wall' of thumbnails of people playing games and you can swiftly hop in to any of them to watch them playing. It was cooler than Twitch. Way ahead of its time, given that fibre connectivity was still not in a lot of countries. Ultimately it died due to high running costs and limited availability (from show internet. Sony bought the tech rights.

20: 08 yes we know you’re going to play duck hunt. Not just for nostalgia, but, well, that’s what falcons do.
21: 23 also, nostalgia trip for me here. I didn’t own one, but man did I see this thing everywhere. I even remember a mall kiosk selling these. They advertised it by hooking it up to the TV and letting kids see what it was about. Everyone was always playing Mario, so no one actually knew the other crap that was packed into the damn thing.

FUN FACT: The Taco N-Gage's button layout is based off goatse because one of the designers is getting frustrated by the execs who can't make up their damn mind, until they found out the Goatse layout and they accepted that. Basically, the Nokia designers didn't even want to design a console in the first place. There's also an updated model that fixed the infamous cartridge placement.

I was so disappointed by those tiny Game Gears. When I first heard about them I was assuming it would be a normal sized Game Gear with a ton of classic games pre-installed. These days, they could put in the entire catalog in English and Japanese with no issues. I was planning to import one.
Then we got. what they released. Yeah. That's a no from me.

I had both the R-Zone and the R-Zone Super Screen, which added COLOR to its games!
My friends and I always played the R-Zone without the glass bit, just looking directly into the device, and playing backward. It was easier than trying to see the nearly invisible images being projected onto the bootleg Saiyan Scouter that was attached to the front.

My stepdad worked for Philips in one of their R&D departments at the time the CD-i came out and we got one for free a few months before the official launch. It was absolute dogshit, with the sole exception of BURN CYCLE, a fun cyberpunk point-and-click game with a fantastic soundtrack.

as crap as the N-Gage was, you could still just hold it to your ear like a normal phone and still be able to talk and hear on it. Its the fact the speaker and mic holes were located on the side of the device, but they both still had decent-enough range.

About Zeebo, tectoy, the company that made it, is trying to launch a new console in the steam deck style named Zeenix (zeebophoenix, as a rebirth. As a Brazilian i hope it works, Tectoy was the company that brought us SEGA consoles in the 90's

Bootleg consoles should be an entiretly different video. It's dumb to include them alongside real licensed consoles. Like worst games of all time shouldn't include crazy bus alongside legend of zelda wind waker even tho both are terrible.

29: 25 - One year, I would watch the Highlander cartoon before heading to the bus stop. It was perfect, because I could finish the show, and if I left as the credits started, I'd get to the bus stop with around 5 minutes to spare.

I have a friend that has a virtual boy. Back in the day, I played the shit out of Teleroboxer and Wario. Calling it portable is a bad joke, but it was cool if you could get into a comfortable position to actually play it.

This is perhaps the most painful Gameranx video I've ever seen. Not because it's bad (it's great actually, but it feels like descending the nine circles of hell. The R-Zone was straight out from a David Cronenberg film

The Panasonic 3DO is way too high on this list. I'm not saying it was a great video game console, but it definitely had more fun and worthwhile titles than the Philips CDi and Nokia N-Gage, among others systems

I actually bought the OUYA. I thought it was the coolest thing because of the premise of it. I honestly had a good experience owning it and thought it had legitimate promise. I understand why it failed though.
