The Equalizer/2 (2014 and 2018) is absent for no reason at all, Escape Plan (2013, True Lies (1994, T2 (1991, all four of the Lethal Weapon movies, Predator/The Untouchables (both 1987, with the exception of Die Hard 5, it's quartet of predecessors and so much more that could have been included.

IMO the best opening I ever saw (and heard if the speakers were loud enough) was the beginning of Top Gun! An F-14 at full afterburner, after a tremendous buildup and with the music timed just right, it's my number 1. The movie goes downhill after that, but it at least had real jets.

I feel like leaving out the opening of specter (I know you gave a James Bond movie ) overall hurt not many movies could build that level of suspense without a world opening many people eyes to how beautiful day of the dead could be and scale of it without ever going to Mexico

Well I thought casino royal was an excellent opening
My only hang up is a walther p99 (the gun hes using) doesnt have enough velocity to cause someone to be thrown off their chair. Thats more a 12. 7mm anti material round.

Spectre also has a really good opening scene. It also changed the way Mexico celebrates the day of the dead. There was no parade like we see in the opening. The next year, they had one which was attended by 250, 000 people.

The most recent reboot of Star Trek with George Kirk at the helm. The movie could have ended after this intro and the birth of James Tiberius and Id have felt I got my moneys worth.

The opening scene of Casino Royale was brilliant. Finally, James Bond was the assassin that he was always meant to be. We hadn't seen that since early Sean Connery.
