video description
Disagree with that if you like. That's your prerogative. If you thought he was great I'm not going to argue with you! Just giving my opinion.

The movie has some flaws, but overall, it was a good movie. The only part I hate is that in the movie they made Freddie seem weak and that he was manipulated and used by his manager. However, this is not true. Freddie was strong-willed and did whatever he wanted. No one told Freddie what to do. Plus, Freddie was Queen. The band currently is living off of Freddie's legacy, which is fine because it keeps Freddie's memory alive. No one cares about Queen's new material and the band hasn't evolved in any way. Therefore, they can't say they regrouped and became a new great band. They still play the same songs and just hired Adam to sing the old songs. in concert, they show Freddie videos all the time. Whenever Roger and Brian are interviewed, they are asked about Freddie. People still like Queen only because they love Freddie. Brian and Roger are great, but since Freddie's death, Queen is sad.

If Brian May didn't like Cohen for the role of Mercury, he would have said it in 2010, not after Cohen quit. I totally buy that May wanted the movie to be largely about the him and the band post-Mercury.
Cohen would have made a fantastic for this role because he can be a mensch like the Freddie and there's a natural resemblance. Mercury's dominant personality was NOT portrayed well at all by Malek. Where Mercury commanded the attention of his audiences and controlled their every emotion, Malik seems to plead for acceptance like a little boy. (In fairness, Rami seems like a great kid, but doesn't capture the essence of the man Freddie Mercury)

No, no, no. Cohen was absolutely incompatible with Freddie Mercury, QUEEN, the music. I often wondered how Cohen got so close. And Cohen's focus on Freddie's personal life, like Howard Stern, and the critics, was wrong. Yes, as fans we sonetimes read the nonsense. But I don't want to see a movie, about Freddie Mercury, with a voice like that, in a band like that, with a sound like that, making music (OMG! the music) like that. primarily about the nonsense. I hope I make sense. Rami Malek had the right soul, depth, to portray Freddie Mercury. Bismilllah.

I can imagine that Rami wanted to pay tribute to Freddie and would do anything to preserve Freddie's legacy. It sounds to me like Cohen just wanted the spot light and would have made viewers of the movie that never heard queen not want to even research queen. Rami did a great job. lets face it, nobody can ever match Freddie but Rami put in such hard work he had me convinced he was Freddie more than i think Cohen could have. Rami had heart just as Freddie did, that's why Rami deserves every award for his portrayal.

I'm glad the movie was made the way it was. I think it was a fitting and lovely tribute to Freddie and Queen. Sacha is a genius in his own right, but the type of movie he wanted to make wouldn't have gotten to the core of Freddie Mercury. Rami did an amazing job! That being said, there's something about Freddie that's not able to be captured by another person - that's what made him Freddie Mercury, truly a legend. Rami came as close as you're gonna get though. Great movie.

Malek is built like final years Freddie. Freddie during the Queen days was chunky. Malek looked like a lollipop throughout the whole film and played to every shot. Cohen had the build and has the mindset to go nuts with the role where he'd play to the concert and not the film. The shots with Malek's dry face during the Live Aid concert where he'd smirk or whatever are so bad. I hope Cohen plays Freddie at some point and does it justice.

Who cares what a Party Animal Freddie was! I loved the Movie cause it made me fall for Freddie Mercury. after seeing the movie I've seen all the Videos here in YouTube and My God! Love him even more now. He was so humble, A bit shy, crazy funny and so much more. and honestly Rami may not look like Him. but Damn he made me love him and be curious about this Fabulous Man! That I now Love and Miss so Much! So for me it was a Good Choice!

I like Sasha, but I think he missed a golden opportunity. I guess he doesn't understand that not everything he does has to be Ali G or Borat.
Saddest part is, I think he could've done a great job. It would have put him up there with other over-the-top comedians that wowed people with a great straight performance; think Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Jamie Foxx.
But on the bright side, it did make Rami the star he deserves to be.

Cohen is also a talented actor, and its no doubt hes got the skills to play any role but I really cant see him playing Freddie Mercury for some reason. Rami Malek is a good choice, cause first he is the oddest choice, second, hes not crazy famous like other stars out there, although Mr. Robot is a well known tv series, and Rami won alot of accolades for his role. But Rami is still a good choice for BoRap cause hes a serious actor.
