Why is [Robin Hood] French?
I wonder if you asked why Robin Hood had an American accent in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves?
French is actually probably much more historically accurate to the myth than most American film productions of Robin Hood, since most modern tellings of Robin Hood set their stories not long after the Norman invasions. During this time most English noblemen would have been the children of French noblemen that were given titles and land in England by William I (William the Conqueror. French was spoken by the noble classes in England for some time after the conquests and their children would most likely have had French accents as a consequence.
The lands around the village where I grew up (in Nottinghamshire) were owned, after the conquests, by the De Aincurt family, who were handed the area for their loyalty to William. There are a great many French influences on England from around that period.
Note that Hood is also usually loyal to King Richard in modern tellings; often freshly returned from fighting in the crusades shoulder-to-shoulder with Richard; and is instrumental in the overthrowing of King John. King Richard almost certainly spoke French since he lived most of his adult life in Aquitaine. If Robin and Richard were friends, which is often very heavily implied, then the chances are very good that Robin ALSO spoke French.
Additionally some aspects of the modern Robin Hood myth appear to have originated in France. It's likely that the story of Maid Marian originated in France, made its way to England and, over time, was incorporated into the story of Robin Hood.

You wanna know what's _really_ funny? I didn't get the compensating joke as a kid, but I eventually learned what it meant. But there was another compensating joke I didn't get. Near my brother's wedding reception, a female manager was upset with a caterer who had signed up for a one-person shift. She said she didn't think he could manage alone. She was sternly all, I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen. You need someone there to give you instructions and guide you. And then the caterer said, You know, I'm beginning to see why you work so many wedding receptions. I didn't understand, but the next day, while watching the castle scene in Shrek, the idea of compensating for an unfortunate lack made me see what the caterer meant. And I gotta say, that _is_ sad.
At least it's my interpretation of what he meant.

Another sad thing. There were three bears in cages when we were introduced to donkey. There was papa bear, who was wearing glasses. There was mother bear, who had a pink bow, and then there was baby bear, who was a baby. Later when they are all free, you only see baby bear and papa bear, but no mama bear. Papa and baby bear are both also seen crying. Later on in the movie (during me time in the castle) you can see a bear rug in lord Farquads room, and it has a pink bow. If you get it, you get it. Sorry for ruining your childhood.

Shrek and Shrek 2 were on some iconic level shit. Very few movies have the chance at success on sequels. Cant say the same for most recent two films, even though the 3rd is still watchable while 4th is crap. Like this comment if you love OG Shrek and want a Mike Myers comeback! Yeah Babayy!
