I have a Royal Ashera cat. I found and adopted him from a cat rescue foster home here in Southern California. He was 4 months old at the time. No way could I of afforded the $125, 000. 00 that the royals go for! He has a great easy going personality, even though he was abused in the past. Just like with Savannahs and Bengals, these cats aren't for everyone. It makes me sad when I run across another story of someone who didn't do research before they got the cat. The just get them for the gorgeous coat. They're not prepared for a cat that's very stubborn, in the case of Savannah and Ashera gets really big, needs a special wild cat diet and depending on the hybrid breed takes 2 or 3 years before it's fully grown. Savannah and Ashera cats because they're so much bigger eat a lot more food than the typical smaller domestic cat, especially when they're still growing. My poor boy was rejected 3 times and returned 2 times because of his high energy level, how much he ate and his stubborn personality before I adopted him.

Please please please adopt, dont shop! Purebreds have lots of genetic disorders, plus, if you really want a look or temperament, there are usually rescues that will have very similar looking kitties, if not identical. Before you adopt any animal, please thoroughly research the amount of time, money, attention and true commitment that every animal truly deserves. Why cant MsMojo do something helpful with a countdown. The Savannah and Asera cats should never even be pets most of the time. Why cant we put our power to good use instead of trying to domesticate for human sport?

Please, WatchMojo, dont promote the breeding/buying of cats, dogs or other companion animals. There are literally millions of animals in shelters, rescues and living rough, in need of good homes. Some of them are in such urgent need of new homes that they are actually killed if not adopted. To promote the purchase and breeding of companion animals, or to buy a new puppy or kitten from a breeder or pet shop, is to support and contribute to a system that is cruel and unfair to the unwanted animals.

You forgot the Toyger. Bred to look like ta tiger with a much better look and character than the Bengal. I don't know where you get your prices for Bengals but hear in Canada you can get a show quality Bengal with papers for around 2000. 00 to 2500. 00$ CAD for the prices have dropped dramatically. Your way off on the Persian prices too.

Im surprised that you didnt cover the Maine Coon cat. They are really beautiful, but not cheap at all.
It also saddens me the amount of money people put out for these cats. With money like that, just imagine how many cats (feral or not) could be spayed and neutered, or help an animal shelter with food for the animals.

I'd be happy to have any one of these, but I wouldn't feel right not getting one from a shelter. But I understand some people want certain breeds and that's okay, but my suggestion would be to look into rescues and such. There's plenty of purebred cats and dogs for that matter if you want one that desperately need homes

Was expecting Main Coon to be top of the list. I had never heard of 1 before, i didn't know it existed, it still looks like a savannah though.
I have F5a Savannah myself and they are like dogs, my boy understands the word no.

reply

Get a Toyger! They're only. 3k.
I also have no idea why you would want an F1 Savannah. they're too close to their wild ancestors. I can't remember what Jackson Galaxy said, but it seems like an F5 would make a good pet.

Can we all just agree that cats deserve as much love as dogs do, including black cats?
Cats are just as loving and playful as dogs. I have two kitties of my own and they are like my children and I love them.

I own a Bengal, but she's not a purebred, I picked her off the street. How can I be sure? Simple, she LOOKS like one and has all the personality, besides smarts, of one. Hence why I think she's a mix lol

Come to my house, I have a whole colony living in my backyard. Most have been neutered so do have a clipped ear but many are very sweet and would love to live in someones home. I wont charge you a dime,

Hey, MsMojo, you missed the mark! The most popular breed for the last several yrs is the MAINE COON CAT! I should lnow. COONPALS Breeder for 20yrs & All Breed Judge for 12yrs. $1200--$4000.

Im both a cat and dog person, but Im not going to put any dents in my wallet to buy a cat. If I spent that much money on any cat, Id be dipping into all of my college funds.

There's a lot of beautiful breeds out there, and personally I have a thing for abyssinians, but I would never go to a breeder for a cat. We only adopt from shelters.
reply

As much as I like Folds, they have issues with arthritis due to lack of cartilage in their bodies, which is why their ears fold down.

No lie, watching this list makes me love my sweet little tabico kitten we found in a parking lot even more

Fun fact when I was a kid I found a Persian cat in a trash can and I didn't like cats so I gave them away
