Hairdresser reacts to diy y2k stripe highlights Ryptoll: I love having chunky highlights for myself, especially combined with thinner highlights, lots of contrasts and ombre, always in brown and blond. Although I do vary which shades of brown and blond I go with. Before I went with a golden hazelnut brown and golden blond, now I'm going with my natural ashy brown and platinum blond. (I have warm skin and naturally cool hair, so I can make both warm and cool shades work for me) Also my beard naturally is a mix of ashy brown and platinum blond, so that's my inspiration right now, to get my head hair to match my face hair in an intriguing way. That style, with ombre and chunky highlights, has become my thing that I've been living for these past five years. I want it imperfect, messy and unpredictable. Just like my soul lol.

Oh wow she uses amplified! haha, Brad, this you dont remember! My first comment ever was some time back, on a video w another girl using amplified. I quoted u, asking again if amplified isnt good (you did say it back then, you actually replied to me even! I think the difference is that you know it's 30 or 40 VOL packs (and highlights with 20 VOL, i think.
Amplified comes with a tiny box to blend in, and a spatula, very nice box (for box bleach i mean)

Agreed on it taking time, yesterday i did split dye and omg it felt like it took forever, 6h total. Went from brown box dyed hair to steel blue and lavender purple. I used all your tips and it turned out amazing! Thank you for posting funny and informative videos for us who cant afford to go to a salon, love u Brad!

Chunky highlights are definitely early 2000's! I was there and had dark brown hair with white blonde chunky highlights I can't believe it's back, some early 2000's things still seems cringe to me but I guess I get it could be cool for younger people who didn't live through it. Some 2000's fashion I'm living for though

Besides the colored ones (including the white) there is SO much nostalgie here! Like we did see color, but it wasn't really streaks of color, more like one section or your whole head, or full black (which always looked greasy and gross on high schoolers.

Manic panic is really nice and bright. I did my hair hot pink using it and only had to lift my hair to a yellowish orange I was scared to do more and damage my hair but turns out that level was perfect. It was a very bright hot pink colour.

Love it because this is what I grew up with, I was always so mad my mom would never let me do this but she finally caved in grade 9 and let me do the blonde and black and I love it soo much, my fav hair I had when I was younger!

Other than being super educational, my fav thing about Brad is how much he applauds peoples creative choices. Even if someone messes up a lot he says hes proud we tried something new or unique. Its inspiring and I love it!

Oh. My. God. This is taking me back to middle school (29 now so it was yearssss ago) but I colored my hair red, and did the box highlights but my mom made them chunky. It was sooo beautifullll! Nostalgiaaa!

You're not confusing Brad, some people just don't listen PERIOD.
You explain exactly how and why something didn't work and you even tell us how it would have worked when done the correct way. Love you

I had the chunky highlights in the 90s and it was just the Mohawk section but I re did this look recently and I also did the front side parts so when I pull my hair back I have some blonde their too lol

I lived through the 90s and was a teen in the early aughts. If people start giving themselves racoon rat tails and wearing painted on leather pants in the middle of summer, I will feel truly old af.

I love the Revlon Colorsilk dyes. They have NO ammonia, and they have keratin, which is so important when doing any kind of hair process because it puts protein back into the hair.

I love that Brad opens every video with saying hello and then how beautiful and gorgeous we are even if we don't look beautiful and gorgeous it always makes my day.
