I'm a long time porto's fan so lemme break it down. The potato balls are served piping hot, the potatoes are soft and buttery, and the filling has a nice spicy tang to it. The guava/cheese pastry is flaky, buttery, and the filling is a great combination of soury sweet mixed with creamy from the cheese filling. The tres leches has a a great fresh taste (not too soggy) and has a nice milky vanilla sweetness from the 3 milks, (my favorite thing to get here. I haven't had the new sandwich but I can say that the cuban sandwich is pretty freaking good here. The pork is nice and tender, the ham is sweet and savory, the cheese is gooey and creamy, and the mustard ties it all together with a rich bitterness. However, the bread is what makes it all worth it because it is always fresh, soft, and buttery. Lastly, the plantains are crispy, not too oily, and have a shocking little sweet aftertaste that kind of lingers on the tongue. So there you go, folks.

Why call it a cuban bakery though? just like the cuban sandwich. it's not really cuban, all this was created in United states. If you go to cuba and live there (which you can't it is illegal for foreigners to stay in a Cubans house as the government owns it and you can lose your house if caught) You won't find anything like this, you won't find cuban sandwich either, and if you ask them about it they won't know what you are talking about. Cuban culture is pretty much destroyed cause of the communism. The average cuban eats arroz con gris, chicarron, mortadella (really bad Bologna style meat) cows are illegal to eat, they are reserved for children and tourists, ie hotels and i think in schools the kids get to eat ground beef.

I'm getting an Eater version of Insider Food video that they're trying to create in these videos with this hostess. Insider food is a short video that shows appetizing but quick shots of foods and a short description of the restaurant/food. Typical Eater videos go more in depth with the history of the restaurant/food while also describing how the food taste. This type of videos with this hostess is, what I feel, to be a mixture of these two types of filming styles to try to appeal to the Insider Food audience but is pissing off the current Eater audience. The lesson here: Change the hostess or change the video style because this isn't cutting it.

I really enjoy the cult following videos and Serena as the host. This video was enjoyable to watch and sums up the topic nicely; the food was delicious. The camera work and editing were great keeping the viewers interested. Serena's style is unlike the other hosts and I like the manner in which she rates the food which is short and to the point and not over doing it with too many adjectives. However, I believe she'll be first rate if she just adds just a few choice words to describe what she is eating.

I dont know about you guys, but I don't really care who hosts a food show, as long as theres some good shots of the food and the restaurant. I dont need them describing the flavours in detail, I can suss that out for myself roughly based off looking at the food and having a basic knowledge of what ingredients taste like, who cares who's presenting the show? Aren't you here for food?

The Cuban Sandwich was made using a hoagie roll like you might find at Smart and Final. Not authentic. Should be on Cuban bread. They take short cut or else they run out of bread on my order. The potato balls are OK, but the real cuban ones have seasoned beef in the middle. The ones I got had a small center with barely any meat.

Please cut her some slack. She has her ups and downs, but ultimately 99. 9% of all these comments are influenced by other haters. I'm genuinely curious of the results when someone does some sort of an experiment, with one group seeing the comments and the other without, then asking their opinion of Serena.

She seems so disingenuous and the way she talks makes it sound like she's being sarcastic even when it at least seems like she's not trying to be. Like it literally felt like she didn't like anything she looked at or ate. Which is impossible at Portos, honestly, so I know it's not that.

This family is amazing no doubt about it, but this is not a Cuban-American dream it is the American dream to come to a freedom loving capitalist country and work hard AND be rewarded for that hard work. America makes this happen no matter what the race and ethnicity of the person.
