This series might have been my favourite Eater series, the content and idea is great, however I find it extremely difficult to enjoy the videos as the host is incredibly lacklustre, I've tried extremely hard to get over the fact that she has some annoying mannerisms when eating, as well as the fact that her descriptions of the food she is eating is extremely basic. This is a online video in which the only way the audience is stimulated is through the visuals and sounds of the video. The viewers cannot smell or taste the food they see, hence when she makes zero effort to describe the tastes, textures and smells of the food, (something which all other eater host are very good at) the videos becomes extremely boring. It's a shame, as I'm sure she is a lovely person, she does not deserve the hate that she gets, however she clearly isn't cut out for the job.

Tbh I only clicked on this because I thought it was a K-town episode and after watching the episode I still prefer Matthew as a host, but you guys are being too harsh on the girl. There's no need to be rude. She's obviously trying her best and hopefully she'll get better in the future. Give her a chance.

Hey, Serena, I'm not a hater. This is genuinely criticism. Please describe the food more. The smell, taste, texture with more than a simple yum. Please use your words to deliver the experience because anyone can recite facts about a place.

not to be that person but draws hours-long waits. restaurant is at less than 50% capacity and no line up. just noise for filler. ive seen japanese cheesecake shops in toronto with constant 2 hour lineups for 6 months straight.

OH NO NO NO. Matthew, Kalguksu isn't even remotely similar to Ramen except it's a noodle dish. It's not comparable to it in any way. Even the stock is seafood based instead of pork bones (Tonkotsu and other ramen stock.

I think a more charismatic co-host and better writing and research could save Cult Following. Serena just can't seem to carry the show on her own but episodes with other eater hosts seem to do better. Maybe hire a co-host.

You put the two people who end sentences in a high inflection, with weird fake valley accents, as cohosts on the same episode? Right, like really? And that's just Matthew. But this restaurant really is to Dai for
reply

Yeah, Matthew carried the direction of this episode fully, if Cult following wasn't in the title I would have forget about ole girl completely. She just doesn't bring anything to the table.

I'm just trying to imagine how horrified Serena must be while reading the comments. PS: I don't think she's terrible. She's no worse than Nick, but she gets way more hate.

YO! PAUSE AT 3: 57 And tell me the look on Serena's face isn't all like Look at me getting carried and the look on Matthew's face is all like YUP, Easy mode.
