It s always tricky posting Thanksgiving side dish recipes, since most families tend to gravitate toward the familiar and comforting, verses the new and interesting. This is especially true for a side dish like green bean casserole, which is why I decided to post this. It s familiar, comforting, new, and interesting, so we have everything covered. Amanda: This looks really tasty, if you want to do a quick dish. I usually use Alton Brown's Best Ever Green Bean Casserole recipe. No canned mushroom soup here!

Our dog loves green beans so we always share them with him and it's better for him to have them plain. So we always have them plain, no sauce, no butter, no cheese. He also likes corn and peas & other beans & carrots, but only if cooked. He won't eat raw veg. So we have all our veg plain so we can share them with our dog.

Oh, how I wish I had ordered fresh green beans for my pickup. next time. This looks amazing! I bet this would also be good with lightly roasted green beans before adding the cream and cheeses, too. Just saying.

Could this be done using Broccoli or Brussels Sprouts? The reason I ask, is they are the side-dish vegetables I have. I am done shopping. you know what I mean?

Jeez, I hate trimming green beans so much that even watching Chef John do it gives me agita. Thanks for all the vids Chef, and Happy Thanksgiving!

One of my biggest issues is always which dish to cook things in. Having a tiny kitchen, I don't have much to choose from. Would an 8x8 pyrex work?

I was going to make your French Onion Green Bean Casserole recipe for Thanksgiving this year but now I have to decide between this one or that one!
