Chicken salad on sliced bread makes for one of my favorite sandwiches of all time, but ever once in a while, for a fun and much more interesting change of pace, I ll give it the old rice paper treatment. Easy, delicious, and see-though! TNT: Hi chef John! As a Vietnamese, I enjoy watching you do this! You can substitute the green mango for the avocado. It s very fresh and complements well with the chicken. Also, you can place the wet rice paper on a plate and let the edge kinda hang over the the plate, that way it s easier to lift up the rice paper and roll.

Hello Chef John, I m so happy that you call it a Summer Roll- Vietnamese Salad Roll. It is called Goi(salad) Cuon(roll) in Vietnamese. A lot of people called it Spring Roll or fresh Spring roll which is a better term for Egg Roll in Chinese. So thank you. I love all your amazing videos. Your voice is so soothing, I can listen to you all day.

Looks healthy and tasty but I would roll two of them in a large corn tortilla and sear it on a hot dry skillet (if my wife was not around. A long time ago someone in a Chinese restaurant told me the difference was the spring roll had no meat. As long as they are fried, I don't care.

Am I doing heresy or am I the only one who more often then not cuts longer thiner slices of chicken rather than tearing it: p. It seemed like not an options!
I do so for my tacos for the same reason as this lovely soon to be enjoyed salad roll you showed: )

These look great and refreshing for these hot summer days. But what I really want to know is - Will Chef John one day tell us the story behind the photo of him in his avatar.

Chef John you dip your rice paper in too long, that's why it tore up. It just needs to touch the water, also no need to let it wait after you dipped it. Just get to rolling.

With that much ingredients use a larger rice paper, don't ever double wrap. We never do that, the texture would be different as it is thicker.

Yum! I've seen spring roll wrappers and egg roll wrappers but I've never seen rice paper wrappers around here. May have to order them online.
