This is almost exactly the same thing as we here in Pennsylvania eat as a main dish. Slight difference is we use a dash of vinegar instead of chicken stock & instead of mixing the cheese in we just serve it with a side of mac & cheese. One of my favorite things for dinner. An old recipe from the Mennonite community cook book. Cheap, & feeds a lot of hungry people

make a pizza bread bowls, I made two, one with onions. black olives, pepperoni, sausage, spinach, sauce, fresh mozzarella and parmigiano. so good. The other had peppers, onions, sausage and ham, pepperoni, sauce and fresh mozzarella. pressed them, then topped them with pepperoni. placed in the oven. try it out, very good.

Off topic from this, I decided to throw in some cayenne to my chicken pot pie soup I make and discovered it was absolutely delicious I've started throwing in cayenne to certain recipes and love the kick it brings to the meal. Thanks, Chef John HahaThis recipe looks fantastic. I'll be trying it very soon for a movie night

Why not saute the veggies so they soften and then add the beef to get the proper browning? Loss of flavor with so much moisture makes me think of a stewing or braising and I always think of sloppy joe as brown meat with a sauce. Either way I will make this for my family as they love it. .

sloppy pot. this is a recipe that we call mince stew in new zealand. u brown the mince first and frt the onions then add water, any flavours youwant, veges, pasta etc but ours often contain potatoes, kumara and my favourite. dumplings made with mixed herbs, yummy cheap and the kids will eat.

Your comment about the Mexican who called ketchup American sauce reminded me of the first time I shopped for Worcestershire sauce in France. When I finally found some, the bottles were labeled, Sauce Anglais. That translates to English sauce. (BTW it was Heinz, not Lea & Perrins)

Remove the sugar, mustard, cheese and worcestershire sauce, add sausages, corn and this is how we make our hot dogs in Brazil. Edit: actually we add cheese but after, with some straw potatoes too, on the top. sry for my english, still learning

Chef John You should try this south American inspired dish 'Papa Con Mani' translate to, Potatoe with Peanuts It usually has tripe in it and peanut butter boiled to a decadent sauce. sounds weird, but oh so gooood.

From my experience, ketchup can vary wildly between a very sugary type and a more vinegary type (my preference day to day. What would you recommend for this recipe, sweeter or more vinegary ketchup?
