This shakshuka for one is perfect for those days when you need to take a break from that bowl of cereal, and you want something that will sustain you for a good part of the day, while also making you feel happy and satisfied. We highly recommend you serve this with bread so that you can soak up the incredible sauce It's also nice to make one bigger pot of shakshuka vegetables and use it in smaller portions for a couple of days. Just bring it to a simmer, put on the egg and wait: ) It could be done in less than 10 minutes and you have a perfect breakfast every day!

Since opinions vary, I thought I'd ask: can I assume since you used a cast iron pan, that you don't believe acidic ingredients like tomato will immediately attack even a well-seasoned one Because I know people who would actually scream if I showed this to them.

For my fellow lazy gourmands; you can semi-meal prep this by making the sauce ahead of time. Then each morning, just out some in a pan with some eggs and a splash of water, cook til done and cover with cheese and herbs, etc.

How do you rationalize using tomato sauce in a cast iron skillet Everything I've ever read on the subject specifically cites the acidity of tomato sauce as a no-no for seasoned cast iron.

Shakshuka is one of my favorite meals to make my family (especially as a weekend brunch, and it's one of the few meals I can count on my kids being willing to eat without question.

Shakshuka for one, this sounds like an indie film about the last survivor of a planet wide natural disaster.
Or maybe the breakfast of the worst valentines day ever.

Thank you for making a recipe for one, Chef John. Hubby and I have very different tastes and I know he'd never eat this but now I can make it and not have leftovers.

What a load of total nonsense
Absolute crappola
But hey no doubt no worries. Nobody will cook it. Will give you an excuse for lame and dumb comments

Never made shakshuka with mushrooms. Also, that egg is way too raw for my taste. The white looks raw. Also also isn't tomato sauce in a cast iron a no no
reply

Flames up and around the pan bring to burnt food from personal experience that i never learned. Take antacid before making it for breakfast
reply

Beautiful, I usually swap the mushrooms for chickpeas but shakshuka is a perfect light meal that satisfies. Definitely going in the rotation
