I dont understand how someone could make something so posh/snobby, yet extremely weak, broing and undecadent. Usually like jamies food but this is just plain out wrong esoecially with the ultimate title. Definatly needs more crust and who doesnt make their own crust on top of that? Thats the best part! Shame on you Oliver! Always pick/steal apples straight from the tree btw, makes for the best pie; )

Jamie, I have really missed you on the telly over here in America. I use to love your show, and how simple you made things with simple ingredients. I watched you before you were even married to your beautiful wife, and now you have all these kids too. I love the way you talk and how you say certain expressions from across the pond. I wish you would come back!

By the way, if anyone has trouble finding a Pie Bird/Chimney/Whistle thing, check your grandmothers shelf, very popular in the early 19th century, became very collectible later. You can also check your local kitchen supply store or on the internet. But If you need pies right this second, you can also just fashion one out of aluminium foil.

I remembered the first apple pie ive tasted when i was 10 years. It had golden brown texxture and inside it a raspberry jam like filling and sweet sweet apples from my grandmas apple tree. It was like a dunkin donut bavarian flavor to it but with delicious apples and soft dough. Omg i still rember it to this day. I missed those days omg.

No comment about the visibly waterlogged pastry. only the very top was cooked crisp. The filling was a nice recipe but the application was terrible. Cook the filling a little longer in the pan then let cool completely before topping with pastry and cooking at a higher heat for less time.

Hm, there is no bottom? I thought THE ultimate apple pie would have pastry also on the bottom of the bowl. strange - seems good btw just wondering what would have been my way - there are a lot of juices inside the bottom layer may remain as stiff dough. anyone has tried it?

did he tell how to make the dough or pie crust or however It's called? I want to know the reciepe for a good apple pie. I was eating once a apple cake in the Neatherlands and it had also a pie crust on top and it was so good. I want to find a similar reciepe.

I didn't have any elderflower, or ginger, (will be buying now though) so just used things I could find in the cupboard that had flavour like marmalade, cherry syrup, maple syrup and blueberry juice. Ive got it in the oven now, so great fun!

I wouldn't have the temerity to criticize Jamie boy, the Pie he made was really nice. Butbi think I prefer a Traditional Pie with a Base. -the Berries. But it still looked very Appetizing. Jamie is big on Organic ANF of course he's right.

Apple pie is not an apple pie if there is no bottom crust. I bake my bottom crust blind but lay a coating of granulated sugar on the bottom before baking. This prevents the apples from making the bottom crust soggy.
