Todays recipe is for maneuljjong-bokkeum, stir fried garlic scapes, which is how I usually prepare my garlic scapes. Its sweet, chewy, crispy, and salty, and when garlic scapes are stir fried like this with a bit of mulyeot they take on a wonderful texture, which is kind of soft and jelly-like but still crispy. Its hard to describe! Can you imagine?

I was so happy to one day see these at my supermarket! ( We live in Canada ) I bought them just to try this recipe and it was sooo fantastic! I added some thinly sliced beef to the stir fry to make it more suitable for my hubby. Even our wee kids loved it. I'm stocking up on the garlic scapes while in season. Thank you Maangchi for another delicious meal idea; I would have never tried these if it weren't for you!

This is so odd, how the universe works sometimes. I went to a farm yesterday with my daughter to pick up apples/veggies. I came across this garlic scapes I bought it just to see what I could do with it, and today when I open my youtube, this recipe came across like if I have just place the order to the universe! Thank you I will try it!

Delicious! This morning I cut out the garlic scapes from our garlic beds, found your video, and made stir-fried garlic scapes in our wok for lunch. (I substituted cayenne pepper powder for the red pepper strips and spicy sesame oil for the sesame seeds. I skipped the sweeteners (honey/rice syrup/sugar. Thank you very much!

My dad left some garlic bulbs laying around for so long that they grew tiny stems. I decided to plant them outside and they're growing nicely, and after finding out that one must trim them to enlarge the base, I looked up to see if the stalks were edible at all. To my surprise they are. I'm certainly trying this.

If you don't want to cook the tips or are short on prep time, you can get garlic stems from the Chinese market already with the tips and the curly parts cut off. They are also bundled up neatly like at Korean markets, so you just need to cut them in small pieces and they're ready to go!

I wish that some Springtime in the future you make a recipe video for sanmaneul-jangajji (pickled garlic ramps) they're my favourite side dish and the pickled blades of wild garlic just look so beautiful laid out on a plate! I'd love to see your version of it!

I thought buchu was the stem that grows from garlic? Do these taste the same? I saw both at Asian market right next to each other and thought they were both buchu but one beginning to flower? I need to make this and taste it! Looks good!

Here we normally stir fry with dried shrimp, prawn or roasted pork belly slices, add in dash of chicken essence powder, little bit of salt/fish sauce. Simple and yummy!
