Nori is a traditional Japanese food ingredient used in many Japanese food dishes Make Sushi Website: Chef Davy Devaux shows a very simple cooking tip to make your sushi taste much better by lightly toasting nori sheets (toasted seaweed) over a standard kitchen bread toaster, (the toaster in the video is from the make Krups its not necessary to get the same toaster as in the video) any old toaster will do just as long as it has two lanes that run in parallel. This little cooking tip will greatly elevate the final taste of your sushi dishes. Most sushi restaurants don't bother with this technique because of the extra time it takes to make sushi rolls, that's why only the very best sushi restaurants will toast their own nori, the very best being Michelin star restaurants. Now you can toast your own nori simply at home and get the very best out of your nori sheets.

I am so confused when it comes to nori. I bought a huge pack of roasted seaweed from Costco to use in my sushi but it's like dry sheets. They break apart so easily. If I soak them in water, will they become more pliable or did I buy the wrong this? I know this is such a silly question but I am so confused.

Heee te gek man!

Thanks!

I don't speak dutch, but I do understand some words, mainly because I've learned german for a couple of years though my vocabulary is very limited hahaha. about the nori, can i just put it in an oven or microwave for a minute or less? believe it or not i don't have a toaster.

I was at school and at snack my friend gave me a piece of Chinese food and said it was seaweed and I looked it up when I got home and I typed the words ajitsuke nori because it said it on here and this is the same as that except its a little strip of it in plastic.

Never thought of that. I'm a bit iffy turning a toaster on though with nothing in it. Spose it could be done while making the morning toast. Will try this as I've been waiting forever to try and make my own sushi. Just had to get the nori and a sushi mat.

It is delicious just cooked lightly in the pan with some sesame oil and salt and pepper. A tasty snack. The flavour and crispiness is delicious. I also use it to garnish a meal done this way. Very attractive and nutritious.
