Download the eBook (it's FREE) to get all the information in these Bangkok videos: T-shirts and eBooks are available now: Camera and SharingWhat: Wow on the prices of so many things being so inexpensive. 20 cents for balls of meat on skewers. You cannot get food in the US for that at all. We pay a dollar for coffee if we are lucky and usually 2. 50 for coffee or tea that we could make at home for a nickle or a dime. If we go out to eat, it costs like 10. 00 per person. We have a lot of restaurants that sell a meat and 2 sides and they will cook whatever they can as cheap as possible and sell it. So like chicken and dressing with a tablespoon of chicken over dressing topped with a very small bit of gravy, and the cheapest 2 sides they can find. A lot of places serve instant potatoes as a side dish. The drinks in our restaurants usually cost 2. 50, and they fill the cup with as much ice as they can get in the glass.

+Mark WiensI always wonder watching these videos, if Mark ever gets a bad stomach after any of these meals. I haven't been to Thailand yet, but every travel guide says one should refrain from drinking beverages containing ice cubes, unless you know it's clean water or from eating fruits and salads because you can't know which water has been used to wash those. Maybe he has a local person's stomach and doesn't react to unfiltered water? Or can I just go to all the places he has recommended? I'm from Germany, and I've had those problems (the famous Delhi belly) already during my travels to India, especially when eating at street food stalls. Has anyone tried out multiple places Mark has recommended and can say something about this? :)

Separated from my friends who preferred foot massage and shopping in mind, I trekked Bangkok alone on a food adventure. I had those small meatballs grilled in charcoals. They were the most delicious sausage meatballs I have ever tasted in my life. Then I found my head swirling. I wanted to ask for help but can't speak a word of Thai. So I just sat down until my head settled down. It was MSG. So beware.

So let's see if I can ask this and make sense. Since you show the conversion into US dollars, the food to me is extremely cheap. But, you live in Bangkok. Is the price reasonable to you? Or is it equivalent to, for instance, me living in the US and eating out, and it's very expensive. Is food cheap for the average Thai resident who lives and works in Thailand and earns an income in Bhat?

Thank you so much for your much detailed experiences in Bangkok. My family and I will be going there next February and I have taken down a lot of notes of what to do and what & where to eat from your various blogs. I live in California and was just wondering how the communication there will be. Can we get by with english? Are there a lot of variety of fruits in February?
