Today I m hanging out with my friends BhenYuri and we ve been invited over to the yangcofamilymukbang9627 who make family village food and mukbang videos. They are cooking one of the greatest Filipino food meal experiences you can have - a boodle fight! Cordova is just a short drive from Cebu, yet it s a totally different world - quiet, relaxing, and still some countryside. The Yangco family has a fantastic property with a farm, vegetables, and even chickens. A boodle fight is a communal style of eating where everyone stands around a table and eats together communally. For this Filipino food boodle fight they are making a couple dishes - a very unique roasted chicken in a tin can wrapped in a banana stalk. Humba bisaya, a braised pork stew that s one of the favorite dishes of the Visayas, and finally kinalaw - raw fish marinated in vinegar, and this time with grilled pork. Once all the dishes were finished cooking we then set the table with everything - the rice on first, all the meat and side dishes, and even fruits around the table. It was an absolute feast, and one of the best Filipino food meals I ve ever had!

Kinilaw is eating raw fish like the Japanese with their Sushi. Almost any kind of fish that is available you can have for kinilaw. It is mixed with a vinegar sauce with onions, tomato and ginger. Kinilaw is common among bisaya speaking Filipinos and much of the Visayas group of islands and parts of Mindanao.

When inwas assigned on a proj work in cebu, i lived there for 2 yrs.
I noticed that the bisayan people loves chicken specifically lexhon chicken.
In lapu lapu city which is beside cordova. The main road has around 20+ lechon chicken stores (not restaurant) along the highway.

I was looking for the grilled eggplants, grilled tomatoes, boiled okra, grilled fish, shrimp and tahong and bagoong alamang with calamansi. My favorite things I eat in boodle fight. oooo summer is coming, beach is calling
I'm craving pork humba right now but my cholesterol is waving.

The chicken and pork looks delicious. The sweet and sour fish salad dish looks just as yummy too.
The only disadvantage it takes quite long to cook dishes because they have to get the fire started.
Unique dishes. Any food that is cooked with firewood definitely tastes better.

I think I have mentioned this several times on the other comment section but I'll never ever get tired of saying that I am so jealous of Mark Wiens. How can this human being eats so much and yet still has a figure of someone who only eats once a week.
reply

Mark you should not eat the peel of papaya. Haha Also the seeds of kalamansi. They have bitter taste. Unless of course you can handle it. Haha For kinilaw, they should not squeeze the juice of the fish. Washing thoroughly is enough.

Super thumbs up, Mark! Love the traditional way of cooking chicken in a makeshift oven using wood fire, Humba Bisaya and the flying fish kilawin by the Yangco family. Amazingly simple, yet delectable (per Mark's declaration.
